The video I saw from the one restaurant camera had him sitting quietly on the sidewalk by the side of the building. They got him on his feet and then walked him out of frame.

Please point me to this "extended" video.

That's DEFINITELY happening now. And the opposite as well! A lot of Christians call Trump good while he makes a mockery of their faith with his police-enforced photo op where he holds a bible (which he's probably never read) like it's going to catch fire in his hands.

I'm more of a Christian than Trump! Mainly because I at least RESPECT that some people actually believe in God (I used to be one of them). Trump, on the other hand, plays a naked game of using Evangelical voters like he cares one whit about their "faith".

Trump violates almost all of the 10 Commandments in just the first 15 minutes he sits on the toilet to start tweeting on any given day!

So, yeah, you're right. American Evangelicals ARE busy calling evil good.

I agree that that is what happened.

I had not realised that there was a good-quality video of that.

When Colin Kaepernik took a knee white America lost its mind, got him fired from his job and you'd think he sat there defecating on the BIble the way white America responded. So please DO TELL how the rioters are "delegitimizing" anything.

Who is this "white America"? I am white I didn't get outraged by his actions. The flag and the anthem are symbols and part of civic religion, peoples businesses are their livelihoods.

This is where an appreciation of the SYSTEMIC nature of racism in America comes in handy. It is good to read. I recommend starting with "The New Jim Crow" by Michelle Alexander.

I've been to college and I know all that stuff. And I still think there's no moral justification for burning down businesses and looting.

Of course! The people who voted for Trump were tired of the same-old, same-old politicians who mealy-mouthed change. So much of American drama is predicated on that! How many movies have we had in the past 3 decades about some renegade President coming into office and being a super "straight-shooter" cutting through the bs.

Only problem was the Trump voters didn't seem to have the ability to determine what that looked like and wound up getting a corrupt liar whose zeal to reimage America meant taking us straight into the arms of facism and early-onset dictatorship.

You give Trump too much credit. We don't have a dictatorship, we have a broken, discredited government. And that's exactly what the elites that backed Trump wanted.
