"search method is currently disabled"

Everytime I try to search a member's posts I get the following error message:

This search method is currently disabled. Try searching by threads and/or don't use usernames.

This is very annoying as it is difficult to keep track of multiple replies to threads without it. When will it be enabled again?

It has been temporarily disabled, as it was overloading the site. It should be back next week.

Jeez, someone rebuild the search indexes and prune some old posts. Talk about in need of a basic cleanup.

It would be nice if an actual Administrator could reply to this thread and give us an update about what is being done. It seems very strange indeed that a specific function that is so useful at CF can do this type of damage to the site's infrastructure. Why have it in the first place if it causes so much trouble?
