In 1991, Jeffrey Burton Russell published his book Inventing the Flat Earth. THe thesis: that the flat earth was a myth invented by anti-Christians to make Christianity appear foolish.
Now the secularists are picking up on this fact, though, of course, they do not credit Russell for his major work on the subject.

We should be hearing less of the "bible speaks of a Flat Earth" and "Christians though the earth was flat" nonsense from now on. If we do, we have a readily available resource to refute it with.
Note that they are still trying to make Christianity out to be the ones responsible for the flat earth myth, despite the fact that Russell could find only two authors who believed in the flat earth in Columbus's day and the origins of the flat earth myth are rooted in pagan mythology.
