I don't think organized prayer is allowed in schools, is it?
No, it is not if it is being offered by an administrator, teacher or coach. How many times do I have to say that.

Where in scripture does it say that organized prayer is required? Is a silent individual prayer somehow less effective?

Some of you say it is, some say it is not. I think it should be.

Paul tells us to pray constantly (1 Thess 5:17).

If it is being offered by a teacher, administrator or coach it is a government endorsement of a particular religion. That is not allowed under the Constitution.

That doesn't answer the questions I asked: Where in scripture does it say that organized prayer is required? Is a silent individual prayer somehow less effective than organized prayer?

Depending on how your interpret the Constitution. I don't think asking for the Lord's guidance violates the Constitution. If it does, I'd suggest we amend the Constitution.

Paul tells us to pray constantly. He doesn't specify whether it should be public or private.

How many third graders are praying at school? And as for those who are, would it hurt them to hear the Lord's Prayer at the beginning of the day?

Well, if we had better parents that taught their children about God, maybe we would, but you can't force anyone to believe.
But we don't want the "bad guys" to drag us all into the abyss.

Even if parents teach their children about God there are still issues. Dreadnought initially said that the prayer used would be the Lord's Prayer. As I asked then, which Lord's Prayer? Do we end before the doxology as is done in the Roman Catholic Church or do we continue with "for thine is the kingdom, and the power..."? Do we say "debts" or "trespasses" or "sins"? Do we end with "forever" or "forever and ever" (we use the later in the ELCA)? Trust me, there would be parents who would object if the version they use would not be the one the school uses. That doesn't even get into the objections from Muslim, Jewish, Wiccan, etc. parents who also teach their children about god, but not the Christian God.

So which Christian denomination do we make official?

It would if they are not Christian.

None. We just ask the guidance of God.
But have already said that we should use the Lord's Prayer. That is a Christian prayer.

You apparently cannot figure this out, but once you have a public employee saying a prayer at a public event you are establishing a state religion.
