But I wonder how anyone couldn't put "The Exorcist" at the top. I feel like it's impossible to even make a film as scary as that. Past, present or future.

i didn't think it was very scary. everyone was like "this is like the scariest movie ever" and "it had so much controversy when it came out because of what it had in it" but when i watched it...i don't think my heart rate even went up at all.

I just recently watched my library's copy of The Maid/Kimyo na sakasu (2005) Made in Singapore but it is English language (not dubbed) with a few English subtitles sprinkled throughout, like when there are several Chinese gathered together, which doesn't happen often.

"Every year, for thirty days during the lunar seventh month, the Chinese believe that the gates of hell are thrown open. Vengeful spirits or hungry ghosts wander among the living, seeking revenge and justice before the gates of hell are closed again for another year."

The eighteen years old Rosa Dimaano arrives in Singapore from Philippines to give support to her family working as a maid in the house of the artists of a Chinese opera troupe Mr. and Mrs. Teo on the first day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar.
She is welcomed by the family and introduced to their friends and their retarded son Ah-Soon. Later, Mrs. Teo advises her about their beliefs and how the dead should be respected and honored along the seventh month. However, Rosa sweeps their offer on the sidewalk breaking a basic rule and offending the spirits, and she is haunted by ghosts everywhere. When Ah-Soon calls her Esther Santos and she finds some belongings of the unknown Esther in the house, she discloses a dark and scary secret about the past of her masters.

This made me jump 'a lot' and I would say it is the best Ghost story movie that I have ever seen.

That was an interesting movie. Have you ever seen Re-cycle? Now, that's a strange one...

alien is pretty good, too. i agree, it had much more of a plot, and the characters were much more 3-d than flat like that usually are in most generic slasher movies. i found it original rather than scary, though. i guess i'm just warped, huh? lol

Definitely the Dewy Cox story, I am pretty sure it plays 24 hours a day at the Hades drive in theater. After this movie I think many people gave their life to God praying they would never see it again. I am not even sure why I continued to watch it, some how I'd have gotten more out of it by shutting it off. Horrible and pointless though the trailer looked highly entertaining.

I saw amityville when i was about 10 or 11 and was afraid to sleep in my room by myself for about 3 days.

I felt the exorcist was overrated it didnt scare me, i acutually just thought it was funny at the end when the assistant priest started beeting up the possessed girl^_^

I figured more people whould have said it by now but i guess there to afraid.lol. Hostel scared me half to death i didnt even watch more then the ending 15 minutes and was terrifiied.
another real scary one is "angel heart" i believe it was the last movie that lisa bonnet did after breaking up from the Bill Cosby show. I was afraid to even look at the casette tape box.lol.

when i was little the childsplay movies would scare me, now i just watch and laugh^_^. Ive seen all of them except for seed of chucky( and i heard it wasnt worth watching anyway)
