I just saw an interview with one of the actors, I don't know how to spell his name but the one who was in the Home Alone movies, and it sounds like an offensive movie to me and I don't plan on seeing it. On the other hand 4 years ago I decided not to watch Dogma because it looked offensive but a year ago I bought the dvd and really liked it.

His interview was interesting because he talked about going to a Christian rock festival to do research for the film and people there got excited because they thought that meant he was a Christian and he didn't know how to explain he wasn't one of them but was just to prepare for making a movie. Lesson to be learned just because somebody visits a church or something Christian doesn't make them a Christian.

Well heck, just because someone BELONGS to a church dosen't make them a christian either! ^_^

I also liked Dogma..

I see 'Saved' more as another movie about how silly high school people can be, religion just happens to be the backdrop for this particular movie.

Nah. The best line in the trailer I saw was the girl saying "Feel the love of Jesus!" as she throws a bible at another girl's head. The argument over whether or not Jesus should be white was funny too.
yah your right... but I had already mentioned that in my first post :D
I cant wait to see it

Aren't there some things we just shouldn't laugh at? ....

IMHO the ability to see the humor in things is one of mans greatest gifts. Besides, like I said before..this isn't a movie that has set out to make fun of GOD but of some of his very silly, very immature followers. There is a difference.

It does make fun, and it does judge believers in Christ to make them look stupid and unpealing to be, just look at the preview and read the sypnoises and I think most people here will see that. There could be and probably are Christians out there that maybe do and say unintelligent things, but that's not for us or a movie to judge, it's up to the Lord.

When was the last time you had a movie other than "The Passion" that glorified what Christ did for us? You'll find very few in Hollywood, this is just one more that doesn't....

Yeah well most movies dont set out to glorify god and this is no exception. I still dont think its making fun of god and it is well within our rights to make fun of people who act silly, christian or not.

Mmmm I think I have a problem with this movie when Mandy Moore's character said "Of course Jesus is white!" It's like saying that the supreme being is supposed to be white. I find this not funny and offensive.

I'll watch the movie anyway since I work at the theatres.

It's mocking her ignorance...it hasn't occured to her that jesus was of middle-Eastern descent: making him non-caucasian.

I think the movie looks hilarious! If it comes to the theater here, I am definitely seeing it. I was laughing throughout the entire trailer.

The reason I was laughing so hard is the fact that I know several of Christians like this! It must have been filmed at my old church or something  I have heard that Jesus is white, and I did have some former "friends" lay hands on me because I left my former church. The film may be intended to be a spoof, but honestly, I know several Christians who act the same way in real life.

I don't know....as a Christian I didn't find anything about it funny. It is sad that in real life there are people who put on the "Christian label" and smear Jesus' name in the mud. (and I know that we all do that on occasion) But my problem is that is reinforces all the negative stereotypes people have about Christians.

I will compare it with this....my husband is black and he won't ever go see any of the "black" movies that are out because they do the same thing (though it may just be poking fun) in that they reinforce stereotypes about blacks. Showing all blacks as ghetto/adulterous/thieves....etc...

I wouldn't waste my money on movies like that, I want Hollywood to know that we are intelligent and do care about what we watch.

Here's my thing....I love comedy, even the "politically incorrect" kind. There are tons of those kinds of movies and they poke fun at all kinds of people. But when you have a movie that focuses it all on one group, to me it makes it seem as though the film makers have an agenda.

I want to see it. It looks like an awesome movie to me. besides some of those 'christian' girls actually remind me of some people I know (although maybe not quite to the extremes i saw in th trailer) so it may actually line up pretty closely with the real christian world.

If anyone saw the Macauley Culkin interview last night off Conan O'Brien there will be no question this movie has an agenda to smear ALL Christians, including the extremist.....

Do I think the themes behind "Saved" are appropriate for Christians? Not based on what I have heard (Jesus appears to a girl and tells here to sleep with a boy to save him from homosexuality) Just make a decision for yourself.

I do not want to see garbage like that. Same reason I hate the movie dogma. It does no good.

Not according to Siskel & Ebert and other people I'v talked to that have seen the movie. I've heard that the ending is a "liberal christian" ending, and that the movie certainly isn't an attack on christianity as a whole, just on those people who take it too far.

Well, the validity of that statement entirely depends on who you were talking to, and if they can be objective on either side of the question. "Too far" to someone may be "just right" to someone else, or "what are you crazy?" to a third.
I must refrain from judgement because I have not seen the movie. I do not know if I will. If it turns out to be anti-Christian, I wouldnt want my money supporting it.
