Yes, I know all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. That is why we need a Savior. That is what Jesus is, He is our Savior. And what does a Savior do? A Savior saves. And the Bible doesn't say He is only the Savior of those who believe. No it say He is the Savior of the world, especially of those who believe.

There are two types of fires described in the bible

1.)One for refinement

2.)One for destruction

The one for refinement is sometimes depicted as the Holy Spirit fire. Sometimes as trials and sufferings in this life. It is meant for the believer.

The one used for the meaning of destruction is the lake of fire. The second death is also used as a description of the lake of fire. I think what this means is that since we were created, we can also be destroyed. This would be an everlasting punishment.

God's character is like a weighing scale, on one side sits judgement, on the other love. You get rid of one side of weights and God's character becomes unbalanced and is not the true nature of God.

I know how this universalist belief comes about. But stand on God's words and believe them leaving nothing out and you will be blessed. Lean not on your own understanding and he'll help you understand his truth. Do not subtract what you like or add what you like, for this is blamphemying God and not trusting what he says to be true.

As for people, on one side, there is judgement and on the other, love. Be balanced in your walk with God.
People do NOT deserve anything but destruction, and it's not luck that saves us. God chose to give mercy to whom he choses. If you were in front of a judge right now asking forgiveness for murdering someone, would the judge have to forgive you just because you asked? No, of course not! But God chose to give mercy to everyone that asks of it. Do I know what God will do with those that were less then innocent, yet never heard of him (most unlikely)? Not really, but I know it will be just, and from reading the bible, I fear it will not be good, but that's where fear of the Lord comes from.

Universalism is very clear in the bible. What those who believe in eternal punishment don't grasp is that there IS judgement, condemnation, fiery wrath etc...for those who are unrepentant....but it IS NOT eternal...it is meant for repentance and restoration. The same thing every other judgement, destruction and wrath of God was for....to bring about a broken and contrite spirit.

For some, that will come after death. For others, it happens in this life.

Ok, I'd like to see this in scriptures?

I would believe in universalism if maybe half of what the bible says didn't exist. But, it does and it's there so you can't.

When I write, it appears to some that I do not do it respectfully. This is my problem when I communicate through writing. In person, I can teach this without much problem to even the most skeptical of believer (I know, I know, who said I was a teacher, when it comes to giving proof for my hope, I will teach you my hope). So I ask you to over look this flaw and what some or many percieve as arrogance on my behalf. :(

I have for many years now, by not leaning on my own understanding have without a shadow of a doubt, know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind. I have cautioned and warned many who have this hope, to avoid ambiguity and argumentive fallacy to demonstrate the hope that is with them. :holy:

I agree with you concerning the two types of fire in Scripture. This is a topic which has had people say that I look for salvation in other places than Jesus Christ even among fellow universalist friends over this observation. It is much easier for me to explain this by talking than to explain it by writing.

Though I want you to know, that I believe in the two types of fire and that Jesus saved all mankind. :thumbsup:

I've seen all of these before, the only one that is any good for the universalism theology is 1 timothy 4:10, and that one verse that doesn't specifically comfirm anything. Asking an honest question here, do most universalist ignore most of the scripture about Hell?

The scriptures I wanted you to provide was for your theory that after hell fire, people are saved and that punishment wasn't everlasting.

I do not think so, perhaps some people ignore hell in Scripture. However, as many here have demonstrated, hell is an english word. It is actually not found in Scripture. ;)

If your interested in learning the truth about hell get a Greek and Hebrew concordance and look up every time the word hell is used and how it is used.

And actually when we take into consideration that "He makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.", that one doesn't really say much for Universalism either. :)

I always thought the word eternal means without begining and end. God is eternal; punishiment has a begining.

The term forever (and its equivalents, eternal and everlasting) often occurs when it cannot possibly mean unending. In the story of Jonah one is surprised to hear him say while in the belly of the fish, "I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever" (Jon. 2:6). But he was in the fish only three days and three nights! When a Hebrew slave loved his master and did not wish to go free at the end of the seventh year, we read, "... His master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever" (Ex. 21:6). Of course, that couldn't be longer than his life span. Again, when Solomon built the temple unto the Lord, he began his prayer of dedication with the statement, "I have surely built You a house to dwell in, a settled place for You to abide in for ever" (I Kgs. 8:13). And the Lord answered Solomon, "I have heard your prayer and supplication that you have made before Me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put My name there for ever" (I Kgs. 9:3). But Solomon's temple lasted for only about 400 years! And it was never in God's mind to dwell there for ever!

Here is something that ought to be clear to any intelligent, honest man. A word that is used to mean in one case three days and nights, in another case to mean a man's lifetime, and in still another case to mean a period of about four centuries, surely does not mean unending or eternal, no matter what English word is used to translate it. USAGE DETERMINES MEANING. Another illustration is the Aaronic priesthood. According to the King James version, Aaron and his sons were anointed as priests for ever. It says, "Their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations" (Ex. 40:15). Yet we read in Heb. 7:11-18 that the Aaronic priesthood is CHANGED to that of Melchizedek. "Now if perfection had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood, for under it the people were given the Law, why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order of Aaron? For when there is a CHANGE IN THE PRIESTHOOD, there is of necessity an alteration of the law concerning the priesthood as well. For it is obvious that our Lord sprang from the tribe of Judah, and Moses mentioned nothing about priests in connection with that tribe. So, a previous physical regulation and command is CANCELLED because of its weakness and ineffectiveness and uselessness" (Amplified Bible). Amazing, isn't it, that the priesthood which was ordained for ever has been CANCELLED!

There would be no contradiction if the statement in Exodus were translated as it should be, "to the age throughout their generations." That is, throughout their generations AS LONG AS THAT AGE LASTED. In the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures which Jesus and His disciples used, the Greek word AION was the word used for the Hebrew OLAM. According to Hebrew and Greek usage, therefore, these words mean a period of time, a period of unknown length, the duration of which is determined by the fact or condition or person to which the term is applied.

I always thought the word eternal means without begining and end. God is eternal; punishiment has a begining.
Eternal:
permanent, unending. Eternal, endless, everlasting, perpetual imply lasting or going on without ceasing. That which is eternal is, by its nature, without beginning or end: God, the eternal Father. That which is endless never stops but goes on continuously as if in a circle: an endless succession of years. That which is everlasting will endure through all future time: a promise of everlasting life. Perpeptual implies continuous renewal as far into the future as one can foresee: perpetual strife between nations. 3. timeless, immortal, deathless, undying, imperishable, indestructible.

I have posted this before but is worth reading:

The term forever (and its equivalents, eternal and everlasting) often occurs when it cannot possibly mean unending. In the story of Jonah one is surprised to hear him say while in the belly of the fish, "I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever" (Jon. 2:6). But he was in the fish only three days and three nights! When a Hebrew slave loved his master and did not wish to go free at the end of the seventh year, we read, "... His master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever" (Ex. 21:6). Of course, that couldn't be longer than his life span. Again, when Solomon built the temple unto the Lord, he began his prayer of dedication with the statement, "I have surely built You a house to dwell in, a settled place for You to abide in for ever" (I Kgs. 8:13). And the Lord answered Solomon, "I have heard your prayer and supplication that you have made before Me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put My name there for ever" (I Kgs. 9:3). But Solomon's temple lasted for only about 400 years! And it was never in God's mind to dwell there for ever!

Here is something that ought to be clear to any intelligent, honest man. A word that is used to mean in one case three days and nights, in another case to mean a man's lifetime, and in still another case to mean a period of about four centuries, surely does not mean unending or eternal, no matter what English word is used to translate it. USAGE DETERMINES MEANING. Another illustration is the Aaronic priesthood. According to the King James version, Aaron and his sons were anointed as priests for ever. It says, "Their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations" (Ex. 40:15). Yet we read in Heb. 7:11-18 that the Aaronic priesthood is CHANGED to that of Melchizedek. "Now if perfection had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood, for under it the people were given the Law, why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order of Aaron? For when there is a CHANGE IN THE PRIESTHOOD, there is of necessity an alteration of the law concerning the priesthood as well. For it is obvious that our Lord sprang from the tribe of Judah, and Moses mentioned nothing about priests in connection with that tribe. So, a previous physical regulation and command is CANCELLED because of its weakness and ineffectiveness and uselessness" (Amplified Bible). Amazing, isn't it, that the priesthood which was ordained for ever has been CANCELLED!

There would be no contradiction if the statement in Exodus were translated as it should be, "to the age throughout their generations." That is, throughout their generations AS LONG AS THAT AGE LASTED. In the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures which Jesus and His disciples used, the Greek word AION was the word used for the Hebrew OLAM. According to Hebrew and Greek usage, therefore, these words mean a period of time, a period of unknown length, the duration of which is determined by the fact or condition or person to which the term is applied.
Did you do a study on the word destruction that is used over and over?

Lets see what strong's concordance says about this word anionios that is used 70 times in the new testament.
