If your an athiest satanist, what praytell are you doing on a christian forum?

Hey Carnal! I haven't had a chance to talk to a Satanist since my former LaVey-Satanist friend switched to Santeria, so I have some questions for you if you don't mind.

1. What attracts you to LaVey Satanism? What is interesting about it to you, or makes you believe it is the correct way for you to go?

2. Have you told your family and friends about being a Satanist yet? If so, how did they react? If not, how do you think they will react to the news?

3. I have heard people say that Satanism is a reaction to Christianity. What is your take on God and Jesus, and the way they are presented by mainstream Christianity?

4. Have you ever been a Christian or attended Christian church?

5. What do you think when people tell you they used to be Satanists but then got out of it and became Christians instead? Do you think they are fakes, frauds, that they never understood Satanism or what?

Sorry if you have answered these already. I've read most of the pages on this thread but not all...I just wanted to ask these before I forgot.

Probably he started out wanting to change the misunderstandings people have about his religion, or visited out of curiousity, or wanted to get attention or opinions...but now that you have posed this, he is probably here getting yet another sense of rejection and alienation from a religious community. It's amazing the number of threads that have been on Satanism yet people still relate the Satan that Satanists speak about to the devil. Many people i've found won't change their misunderstandings, they hold onto them as hard as they can, without caring if they insult, or offend, or otherwise.

Good for you that you accepted Christ. But I am still trying to understand what is Satanism. I don't know if worshipping idols or fire or the sun is Satanism. If so even I am a Satanist too even though I believe in Hinduism which says God is One but sages call him by different names. Isis-Astrototh's(forgive my misspelling) version of Satanism is appealing to me 'cause he is worshipping an ancient Egyptian God who was worshipped before Christianity arrived. The version worshipping the Satan who is mentioned in the Bible is not appealing to me. It is more reactionary than a proper belief. BTW, can someone define who is a witch according to Christianity.

Doesn't Seth have an image or statue in Egyptian Mythology? I am sorry I thought the ancient Egyptians either worshipped the nature Gods or some fertility Gods which were commonly represented by idols among ancient religions. I should brush up on my ancient history and theology I believe.

Yes, all the gods had images. They're just representations. I'm sure catholics wouldn't say that the image of Jesus on a cross or their statues of Mary are idols. The Egyptians didn't worship idols, they worshipped the gods that their statues and pictures represented. You also must distinguish here between egyptian paganism and satanism. Satanism in itself, is not the worship of idols, for myself, I have chosen to see Satan as Seth, but not all do. So the link to Egyptian paganism is not there for everyone. Therefore, for some satanists, this topic isn't relevant.

In my experience with modern Christians, ala, Pentecostals here in the U.S. I have come to understand that they don't really encourage worshipping images of Jesus or even wearing the cross. They are just trying to follow Christianity as pure as possible. Is that right Pentecostal brothers and sisters?Hallelujah!

I would like to point out that this thread is not for converting satanists. Personally, I think that you are too young to talk about Satanism of any kind, and not experienced enough. Give it a year or more and maybe. Study Crowley, study Nietzsche, learn. What you are now is not what you are going to be in a years time; you will have evolved, and you may find you are not even a modern satanist. Religion is not just about following the rules, its about being yourself, and i don't think that you have found yourself in modern satanism yet.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing right after I read his first post. You're right, satanism (or any other religion) isn't about only knowing and following its rules. Partly, it's about implementing the philosophies into your mind, and growing from them in a process that may take over a year. And then you have become what you have read. This brings to mind a quote from a greek philosopher "do be do be do".

I have a theory as to why he did this...

He just finished reading the Satanic Bible for this first time, and is now coming to the internet to brag of his newly found knowledge.A person who has fed off of the satanic philosphies for quite awhile will most likley change into a huge loner who could really care less about other opinions. They usually isolate themselves. A true satanist doesn't need recognition on a message board to be satisfied with his identity.
