  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i dont get it... what is the problem with satanic music? i mean, if the music is good, can't you just ignore the message? i'd say that 95% of the music i listen to has a message that is completley irrelevant to me.. i still like it though, but couldnt care less about the lyrics...
Hi Androids

Well first off if you listen to satanic music it can get in the way with your relationship with God.

And anyway if the lyrics are blasphemous against God why would any true christian listen to such nonsense?

Also Its not just the lyrics that are bad, did you know rock music can cook eggs!?
Did you also know that rock music can kill plants after an extended period of time!?

I bet you didnt, and If your thinking im saying this stuff because i hate rock well your wrong that use to be the ONLY music i would listen to: Ill Nino, Limp Bizkit, Evanescence, Spineshank, and Adema.

If you listen to Marilyn Manson or Slip Knot you seriously need to quit NOW!!
Because i backslid from God with just those bands i mentioned above and if they can get me to do that imagine what Manson or Slip Knot can do.

Dont take my word for it (Reading Rainbow lol) go to the site where i read it from:
it is called "Dial-The-Truth-Ministies" in case thats the wrong web address. Its a really interesting site it talks about "The Satanic Roots Of Rock", The movie "Saved!" (Must read before seeing it), and MANY, MANY MORE!!!

Go there please Bye!

What about Kiss? They used to be Knights In Satans Service, now they're just really old guys wearing spandex? My father always told me not to take any man wearing makeup seriously.

Music has a profound and subtle effect on the minds of listeners. I believe that certain musical patterns and structures can affect people without them even knowing it. Plato, one of the world's greatest thinkers, said that music should be regulated by the state because of its powerful effects. While I totally disagree with state control over music, I believe that at some level he has a point. I don't agree with him on much, but lets face it, he wasn't exactly an idiot. Listening to music that praises Satan...lets examine this.
1. I'm sure the composer is satanist. (Why else would he write the song? If it were for money he'd sell out and write some crappy 3 chord pop song) Do you want to give his inner feelings the chance to enter your mind? I believe that music has that power....it can stir up and enhance any emotion.
2. Whether or not you try to "ignore" the lyrics, they are subconsciosly stored in your mind. Not Good.
3. When you play it, there is a good chance others will hear it. What if they love the message and become involved in satanism? Not good.

there no problem with someone choosing to be any religon everyone is saved anyways, if u cant handle music, then u need to reevaluate ur beliefs, having ur own faith is the ONLY way to truly be devoted to ur faith

Hey guys,
It seems like alot of people blame listening to secular music for the fact that when they listened to it they fell away from God. I believe them, but in my life I have fallen from God because of Christian music. Not because I think there is anything wrong with it at all....right now I only listen to music that is from a Christian worldview....but the reason I have fallen away is because it became an idol to me. I grew up in the secular underground music scene, and in that scene music is your whole identity. Everything you are is built off of what music you like. It's ridiculous to me as a Christian, but it seems so normal when you are in the midst of it.
The reason I choose to only listen to music that is from a mature Christian point of view is because the Bible says that "death and life are in the power of the tounge." That's as simple as it is for me.
The thing that stinks is that I only know of three Christian bands that are around right now who make music that I can respect.

Most Christian music is written by hacks and performed by 3rd rate musicians....

What's wrong w/ Evanescence? I think they're one of the better secular bands out there, lyrically speaking. I've never heard them sing songs which glorify fornication, drugs, or violence (all common themes of most secular musicians). :o

Big Rooster, do you like any Christian bands? What kind of music do you like?
I dislike any music where a message is being overtly preached to me, if it is part of a song that is ok. i have listened to quite a bit on the Christian radio station here. Delerious ? is ok, Pillar is ok, I will take The Grateful dead or Pink Floyd anyday, remember God gives secular musicians their talent as well......

That's cool. I haven't ever heard anything on a Christian radio station that I liked. The few Christian bands I like I don't think would ever get played on a radio station, secular or Christian. At least not for another five or ten years....until the mainstream catches up with the underground.
