See to me “satanic” means materialistic—those who are only in it for themselves—not because they like music, not because they want to make the world a better place through their art. The one who are only into the whole rock and roll lifestyle because they want to be rich and famous and be d*mned to everyone else. To me those are the real satanic people and I think most of today’s so called artist fall under that category. So in my opinion Britney Spears would be one of the biggest Satanist of them all.

Agreed!!
Actually that makes many people who arent even singers Satanic...

Now if one heard me sing they would either grab their crosses or run....

Ozzy Osbourne sang about worshiping the devil. I doubt he actually did, but I still wouldn't touch his music with a ten foot pole. Led Zeppelin has nothing to do with the occult, however, in his personal life, Jimmy Page is a huge fan of Aleister Crowley. Does that change my fondness for Led Zeppelin? No.

When did ozzy actually sing about worshiping the devil?
I know he sang about Crowley and all, but I can't recall him actually singing about worshiping the devil.

And I believe he was/is a member of the Church of England. I have heard it said he would always pray before a show. At least back in the early 90s he did. (according to New York Times piece from 92)

My ignorance is showing. I apologize, only heard a couple of his songs and didn't pay a whole lot of attention.

Well, I can't think of any songs in which he did. In fact, I know of quite the opposite - After Forever is about realizing God and accepting Christ ("Well, I've seen the truth, yes. I've seen the light. And I'm changing my ways").

Even the one most people point to as being about Satan, "Black Sabbath", dooesn't point to worship of satan.
"Black Sabbath" is about Satan supposedly coming before Geezer Butler (the bass player and one who wrote most of the lyrics for the band) in the night to tell him to come, and taking his book on witchcraft from him, while telling him it is the best path to being with satan. Geezer cries out "oh, no. no. Please, God help me!" so satan leaves him. Ending with the warning "People better go and beware!"

But, most people don't listen or read up on things, which leads to a lot of misinterpretation. It is understandable, really.

Well some bands are accused of being Satanic and its silly really

Iron maiden = Started with the "666" thing out as a satire really, they only did it becaue people were saying "They're Satanic" so they did it for a laugh.

Saxon was accused, but biff byford is Christian anyway (well "Cultural Christian") and sang songs about Steam trains, planes landing and Crusaders.

I also hard the bloke from Twisted Sister is a Christian aswell.

I dont think just singing songs about bad things, using the devil as a methaphor means its Satanic, to me a "Satanic" band, would be a band with meembers who are devil worshippers, even if they sang happy, clean songs, its what the acual band members believe that would make them "Satanic"

Actually NOTB was based on a dream Steve Harris had.

And if you read the lyrics, it's actually about someone encountering a Satanic ritual and trying to get away from it. It's hardly glorifying Satan.

I'd like to point out that Tom Araya from Slayer is a Catholic..

Also, though I'm not really into metal, I play in a punk band so I'm into punk rock, hip hop, electronic, 60's rock and lots more. But I don't think if your Christian you shouldn't like Satanic music. I mean, I don't mind them talking about Satanism but when I hear them disrespecting God I have to leave. Like Deicide, they are the worst (I honestly think Glen Benton thinks he is Satan..) Music is music, if you like it then like it, just ignore the lyrics.

God bless

Okay, I listen to a lot of openly satanic music, I thought I'd give my 2p:

Bad idea for a thread. It intimates that Christians shouldn't listen to the music of people with different mindsets, essentially. Everyone joining in is participating in some kind of 'Christians should be partitioned off from the rest of society' mindset. The presence of loving, legit, head-screwed-on Christians is ESPECIALLY important around people who are completely opposing it. Its very easy to abandon the mission of introducing people to God when you completely isolate yourself from everyone who disagrees. Would you listen to secular music? Would you listen to Islamic music? Then why not to Satanic music? Or music by people who are opposed to Christianity? There's no reason not to. It would be nice if these threads didn't pop up in every other Christian forum I find. Very offputting. Very embarrassing.

Manson is a showman and a consummate professional. He doesn't believe the stuff he sings. Shock value sells concert tickets.

He preaches in Satanic churches, Anton LaVey or w/e his name was trained him personally, he was his idle. The guy throws live animals (puppies, cats, chickens, etc) into the crowd for them to tear up, he does so much evil stuff. :/
