I think the most overtly evil band I ever heard was a band called Venom. The music made me feel evil and also the instrumentation wasn't very good - so I didn't listen to it much.

King Diamond was errie. I ended up getting rid of that one because it didn't make me feel good.

I grew up listening to Black Sabbath. In the 1980's the had numerous lineup changes. While Ozzy was getting bigger and bigger his original band Black Sabbath floundered with an unstable lineup.

Even during that unstable period some good music was made. I made a video to this 1987 track, "Ancient Warrior".

But their lyrics are about fantasy battles between humans and orcs, etc.

And you call this Satanic?

Satanic bands are funny, I don't listen to them but they make me laugh anyway. Especially the ones who say they are in touch with there pagan roots, how can you be both a satanist and a pagan just isn't possible.

I have seen Slayer put down as satanic well im sorry to spoil it for you but they aren't satanic for the simple fact that kerry king doesn't believe in God or the Devil, plus the singer is a Christian.

Intreasting Thread; Used to listen to "Black Sabbath";
"Led Zep" and many more back in the 70s & 80s, dont think they were Satanic, it was I feel for shock effect & to Annoy Christians...............Hey It worked;)

Remember back in the 70s, someone came up with the bright idea, IF you played some "Rock" albums backwards, you could here secret satanic messages :D
I wonder how many folks messed up there albums & stereo, trying this nonsense !!!.

cannibal corpse?

Slayer are horrible, but i like Cradle of Filth i like their music and their image, Plus they're British n are actually nice guys,

just minus the lyrics

If you really listen to Slayer's lyrics they are atheistic rather than Satanic. Still not good, though.

I used to really like Slayer. When I was trapped in the SDA church and came to belive, based on the writings of the false SDA prophet Ellen White, that I couldn't be saved, I listened to Slayer all the time.

After I rededicated my heart to the L-rd this past Yom Kippur, at the Yom Kippur service at my Messianic Synagogue, I stopped listening to Slayer and haven't since.

Slayer used to be one of my favourite bands but I don't think the L-rd really wants me listening to them.

Shalom,

Lebesgue

Would you agree that Slayer's lyrics are actually atheistic rather than Satanic?

I used to listen to Venom and I would agree their lyrics are EVIL.

I also used to listen to King Diamond and his band, Merciful Fate and there are Satanic elements there but the songs are actually more like "horror stories" than anything overtly Satanic. Thought I think I did hear that KIng Diamond, at least at one time was a Satanist.

Marilyin Manson is DEFINETLY Satanic. 'Nuff said there.

As for Black Sabbath, except for the song N.I.B on their first album their lyrics seem to be atheistic rather than Satanic. The song "Under the Sun" on Black Sabbath Volume IV openly promoted atheism.

Amon Amarth from Norway is NOT Satanic but their lyrics promote Norse Heathenism(worship of the pagan Norse gods.)

I would say they are kind of both, however the Satanic lyrics that are present in some of their songs are simply for shock value.

Not really, Black Sabbath had many Christian themed songs. N.I.B. is misunderstood.

oh noes their lyrics have old norse themes they must be promoting the worship!!!

Perhaps N.I.B. could be interpreted as saying following HaSatan will get you into a trap you don't want to be in.

But there is no mistaking about the lyrics to "Under the Sun" On the Volume IV album. It is OPENY atheistic and there's no other interpretation about it. It renounces beilief in either YHWH or HaSatan is all about beliving in oneself becasue no one else is true.

Hey I like Sabbath, I am just saying their lyirics say what they say.

I thought Slayer were ALL atheists. Didn't know that Tom Araya is a Christan. I am well aware that Kerry King is an AVOWED atheist.

If one listens carefully to Slayers lyrics you will see the content is atheistic rather than satanic.

Actually.. Slayer may not be out as a "Satanic" band, however their lyrics beg to differ. For example; Altar of sacrifice has a verse which praises Satan.
