Reminds me of how everyone mentions Kurt Cobain and how he was SUCH AN HERO. >_>

I'm sick of hearing about him.

Anyway, just heard this gem:

"We destroy angels with sound!
We destroy angels with silence!"

- Nergal, Decade of Therion, Behemoth

LOL.

I don't think you can label a band satanic. They might be heavy metal and sing songs about Satan, but if a band doesn't actively BELIEVE in Satan, or simply uses Satan as a metaphor, I don't think they're satanic. Yes, I like metal. And rock. (And Finnish folk music.)

I mean, look at these (translated) lyrics from Ramms+ein (a band often accused of being satanic or pro-Nazi):

I'm going to go into the fir trees
There where I last saw her
But the evening is throwing a cloth upon the land
and upon the ways behind the edge of the forest
And the forest it is so black and empty
Woe is me, oh woe
And the birds sing no more

It's just a love song. And there's this from Metallica:
I'll tear me open, make you gone
No more can you hurt anyone
And the fear still shapes me
So hold me until it sleeps

That can arguably be construed as an anti-Satan song (getting rid of evil).

Even the mention of Satan in a song doesn't mean a band is "satanic":

On their knees the War Pigs crawling,
Begging mercies for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings

That's about the punishment of those who seek and profit from violence.

I think too much about these things. :sorry:

Yes but lyrics like these are what people are talking about:

In the dungeon so cold, sits the Nazarene son.
His eyes filled with tears, his soul with fear.
Asking himself, where is my god now?
Preacher of lies, soon to be nailed.
Hail murder, your god of filth wont help you now.
Hail murder, soon to meet the evil one.

Carry your cross, to your own doom.
Meet the people's hatred.
You will die amongst the dirt, where you belong.

Christian blood soon will cover the ground.
As I drive the nails of evil, deep inside.
A crucified harlot, that's what you are.
The only crown you have, is one made of thorns.

Hail Murder, your god of filth wont help you now.
Hail murder, soon you to meet the evil one.
Hail murder, as the nails are hammered in deep.
Hail murder, I am the spear in his side.

Carry your cross, to your own doom.
Meet the people's hatred.
You will die amongst the dirt, where you belong.

The demons fly high, they circle above.
Waits for his blood to stop flow, and to collect his soul.
The lord of lies, soon to die.
Thousand of years of pain await.

Hail Murder, your god of filth wont help you now.
Hail murder, soon you to meet the evil one.
Hail murder, as the nails are hammered in deep.
Hail murder, I am the spear in his side.

I find it funny that so many christians are quick to label music satanic... Cannibal Corpse for one aren't satanic, Theyre gore/death metal.

You wont believe how many times I've argued with someone about a certain band not being satanic. Dark lyrics does not make the music satanic... Sure Slayer does have a few "satanic" lyrics in theyre songs... Does it make the actual members satanic? I highly doubt it. Kerry King is an atheist... However Tom Araya is a catholic.
Agreed. I quite like dark lyrics. The poetic nature of so many darker songs is what draws me in.

I also get a kick out of people who say certain types of music are satanic just because of the sound. Anytime I listen to death metal at home, I get some comment about it.
