People say Jesus stripped Satan of his power, but that statement isn't an accurate summary of what the Bible teaches. Specifically, the Bible says:
Heb. 2:14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Heb. 2:15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

The Bible says that Christ's work of redemption by His death rendered Satan powerless over our death. As Christians, we no longer have reason to fear death. Jesus rendered Satan powerless to condemn us and to enslave us by our fear of death and judgment. On the other hand, the Bible does NOT say that Jesus eliminated Satan's power.

ok, this is the scripture that came to mind immediately, not sure if it applies...it is Colossians 2:15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

And it's our 'fear OF' death that stops us from being all we can be,
doing all we can do etc.
He didn't eliminate satan power, but rather He gave US power over
all the power of the enemy, power for living this life.
But we have to practice using our weapons or we can
still get whooped sometimes LOL

Do people believe the enemy can perform miracles, signs and wonders? = Isn't that a form of power?

The OT is a type & shadow of the NT... so let's look at this.. The King of Moab took and sacrificed his eldest son upon the wall of his city in order to gain power over Israel. When the sacrifice to demons was complete, obviously an evil power went forth as the Word of God tells us this..

When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him 700 men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not. 27 Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel, and they departed from him and returned to their own land. – 2 Kings 3:26-27

Demonic sacrifice/ritual can have that amount of effect on a battle (today they are spiritual battles). We know GOD's sacrifice of His Son carries much more power, but that doesn't mean the enemy doesn't have any, right?

Luke 4:5 "Then the devil, taking Him (Jesus) up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish."

No cameras or TVs then....Yet Satan used his power to show Christ ALL the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Jesus said this.

Matt 28:18
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. KJV

Yet the devil can still control weather and when the time of the tribulation arrives he is allowed power with no reigns.

2 Thess 2:9
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, KJV

The devil also has the power (authority) over the kingdoms of the world.

He retains that until Jesus retakes control of the physical kingdoms of the earth at the battle of Armageddon.

That's an important question & I'm sure everyone will have an at least slightly different answer - because it relies on one's ability & willingness to perceive.

He is the god of the world,
but greater is He who's
in us, than he who's in
the world.

Paul says to put on the full armor of God that you may be "able" to stand against the devil - Eph 6 -- without it we fail.

Peter says the devil goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

John says "woe woe woe" to the earth and those who dwell in it - after the cross -- for "The devil has come down to you knowing that he has but a short time" Rev 12.

Eph 2:1-6 he is the "prince of the power of the air" decades AFTER the cross - still.

2Cor 4:4 - he is the "god of this world" decades AFTER the cross. And to this day.

none of this depicts the devil as having no power.

in Christ,

Bob

Indeed and the power and signs and wonders of the devil are to be displayed with every increasing visibility as we see in 2Thess 2, and in Rev 13 such that "if possible he would deceive the very elect" Matt 24.

Often we think power and authority are the same but they aren't. As shown in such Scriptures as "And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out." Luke 4

Luke 9:1 "Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases." And of course, none of this was from them nor is it from us.

angels, are by their nature, endowed with intellects far greater then that of a human
and they are not held back by physical bodies

even the weakest of the angels have an intellect far greater then that of the smartest human, and Lucifer was the greatest of the angels, in the fall his intellect has been twisted by hate, but is no less powerful

Their physical bodies are described in the Bible - but they are not as restricted as ours are in that they are more powerful (yet not infinite) and they can exist in a dimension where we cannot detect them.

Could you elaborate on this - never or usually or ? We know that there are numerous Scriptures about angels speaking, being seen, etc. I'm not that familiar with SDA. Just trying to understand your post.

That's easy -- "SDAs know everything".

Angels can choose to appear or not appear. Each of the saints has a guardian angel - not detectible by us. Angels both good and bad fill the earth and they all have a mission a purpose.

The devil and his angels were cast out of heaven and down to earth as we are told in Rev 12.

Read Job 1 and Job 2 to see just how intimately acquainted evil angels such as Satan are with the lives of the saints.

Ephesians 6:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Hebrews 1 describes them as sent to minister to the people of God. But we cannot see or detect them.

Ps 34:7

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

They are multi-dimensional - but they can appear to Abraham as men also to Samson's parents and to John the Baptist's father, and the shepherds outside of Bethlehem etc.

Heb 13:2

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares

in Christ,

Bob
