  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If they were right, Saddam would still be in power. Nice thought. M
have you ever thought of what if they had passed the second resolution based on WMDs and invaded Iraq?

And WMDs are never found?

Would the UN ever be able to pass another resolution in a similar situation again?

I'm sorry but very explicit in the UN charter is that the UN cannot infringe on the right of soveriegn nations to manage their own internal affairs.

No, I don't care to hear for your reasoning for leaving Saddam Hussein in power. I'm not in the mood for your lawyering, but it's a free country, just don't expect me to respond to some inane reference to international law to justify genocide.

I thought we were discussing why it wasn't the UN's job to interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign country?

How did it turn to I'm defending genocide and Saddam?

Blemonds, you know that you (incorrectly) said the war cant possible be about oil because it would be cheaper to just buy the oil then spend what you have on the war (about$US87b i think).

Well my point was to show that you were wrong, as there is at least $US3.5 trillion worth of oil.

Unless of course you think you're going to spend that much to rebuild it, but i doubt it.
Except that to spend the 3.5 trillion, we have to suck every drop of oil out of the ground in Iraq. Is that what you insinuate we are going to do?
