God is not unclear as some purport. We are called to cease by the very word Sabbath. And the rest of the commandment tell us what we are to cease from. We are to cease from all our occupation, and unbeknownst to some, that includes religious. That is why Jesus said that ministers were breaking the Sabbath but were guiltless. Some of us have things that the Lord has directed us to do also on the Sabbath. But some of us sadly are doing ministerial work also on the Sabbath because we want to and or think it is right. We will not judge that; it is an issue though.

There are things that are needful. But Most things unless directed from the Lord can be done the other six days. By doing things that can be put off we are not resting as we should on the 7th day. The day that He sanctified, set apart for such.

Sin is an issue every day. But the most important part of the command is to keep it Holy. Do not defile it. This we do by not bringing sin into the day by our actions. The only way to do that is through God and His Spirit. So it helps to do religious activities that keep us centered. Pray and praise in fellowship with likeminded people through Him is seen throughout Scripture. The fact we are to not work also helps in this. Because sometimes somethings come up while we are working that bring out our fleshly nature and sin comes knocking. This also happens in ministerial work. So we need to be careful.

Tradition in those who have observed the Sabbath and those who do not has stimied the Spirit in His professed Temple the Body of Christ; us. Come out of it God says. He will be our God and we will be His people. The True Household of God in and through Christ

Keeping the Lord's 7th day Sabbath is to be a delight ... and it is. It's ok to do good on the Sabbath. It is a special day He created to spend with Him ... in worship, in helping others, in enjoying His creation and resting from our routine "job" duties.

Let each person be convinced in their own mind. God blessed the 7th day and made it holy (set it apart from all other days) ... it's a blessing and a delight.

Exodus 31:13-17
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you…

He created the 7th day Sabbath for man (before there were any Jews).

The gracious Creator, after the six days of Creation, rested on the seventh day and instituted the 7th day Sabbath for all people as a memorial of His Creation.

The Sabbath is a day of delightful communion with God and one another. It is a symbol of our redemption in Christ, a sign of our sanctification, a token of our allegiance, and a foretaste of our eternal future in God’s kingdom. The Sabbath is God’s perpetual sign of His eternal covenant between Him and His people.

Every 7th day Sabbath ... I am reminded of these things and am grateful and blessed to have such a wonderful and amazing God. Amen .. thank you Jesus.

And in my full-time Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ, I cease from my works to save and rest in Jesus completed work which saves to the uttermost (Heb 3:7-4:11).

1 John 2:1 says we are to "Sin not" but that is not specific to the Sabbath - it is every day and it also teaches us that when we do sin we are not lost but rather we "have and Advocate with the Father".

2. Ex 20:8-11 says to rest on the 7th day "the Sabbath of the Lord thy God"
3. Lev 23:3-4 says it is a day of "Holy Convocation" -
4. Is 66:23 says that for all eternity in heaven "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"
5. Is 58:13 says to refrain from all things secular on this day devoted to God

So what we do is worship, praise, share the gospel , study the Bible and attend to the urgent needs of others in the case of healthcare workers helping in hospitals etc.

Amen but we are not sure you said that other than you did not understand the following from the op.

The only way to do that is through God and His Spirit. So it helps to do religious activities that keep us centered. 3. Lev 23:3-4 says it is a day of "Holy Convocation" -
And yet they were called to not leave their tents.

So, a holy convocation could be just that. One within one's own house with family.

Jesus' custom was to go Synagogue to read on Sabbath. Does that mean He did so all the time? I would not make any assumption like that since there is only a few recorded instances.

Most should though. Many left alone due to their own self-induced inabilities need a Pastor and Elders to receive the Word and structure to maintain a sense of worship and spiritual purpose.
4. Is 66:23 says that for all eternity in heaven "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"
Amen, Our are before Him always. For His Spirit is in us. We are called to praise, pray, singing and making melody unto the Lord always. It is who we are to be in and through Christ.

But to be glorified through Him with all the Angels in eternity every Sabbath in His completeness and physical presence. I can not wait!

5. Is 58:13 says to refrain from all things secular on this day devoted to God
This here many have a problem with.

Speaking thy own words and doing thy own things seems to have become subjective.

And yet dare one say many have also become Pharisaical also.

Failure to address the evidence presented. . .
Sadly all you did was post verses and make a proclamation about yourself. So maybe post the verses with commentary this time? And then if we respond as we did the last time you can rightly post this post we are responding to again.

Sorry about that. . .

See Heb 3:7-4:11, where there is another full-time (as in God's full-time--Heb 4:3-4) Sabbath rest (Heb 4:8) remaining for the people of God (Heb 4:9); i.e., full-time rest from their own work to save and in Christ's work which saves to the uttermost (Heb 4:10).

You are taking that verse out of context
Although there is a scripture that says that .... we do indeed discern things according to what knowledge we have in our minds.

Amen but we are not sure you said that other than you did not understand the following from the op.
Lev 23:3-4 the weekly Sabbath a day of holy convocation
And yet they were called to not leave their tents.
Their tents were all stationed around the Tent of Meeting - the sanctuary in the wilderness.
But in Is 66:23 "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship" is not a case of not going out for corporate worship.
Even in Acts 18:4 - gathered "every Sabbath" for gospel preaching and worship.
So, a holy convocation could be just that. One within one's own house with family.
Agreed. There are cases when simply having the worship service in one's own home is the best that can be done under certain situations.
Jesus' custom was to go Synagogue to read on Sabbath. Does that mean He did so all the time?
I doubt that the Synagogue was holding services every day of the week.
The Sabbath is not a command to "only worship once a week" - but it is a day devoted to worship which you can't do every day because of secular obligations like work. So Is 58:13 says we are not to have any secular activity on the Sabbath -- but we need to do it on other days. So then we would not vacuum the church on Sabbath but we would do that on a Tuesday (for example) even though we also have worship every day.
I would not make any assumption like that since there is only a few recorded instances.
Acts 18:4 - "Every Sabbath" - gathered for worship and gospel preaching to gentiles and to Jews.
Is 66:23 - every Sabbath
Acts 13 - it is specifically gentiles asking for "more gospel preaching" to be given "the next Sabbath" rather than "tomorrow".
And yet dare one say many have also become Pharisaical also.
True. and many people covet -- but that is not an argument against God's Word. It just means we need repentance and reformation.

You are being lord over your own "sabbath". We most certainly rest in Jesus and yes He does save to the uttermost. Jesus isn't the 7th day sabbath himself .... He created the day for man and designated that day to be separated (blessed it and made it holy) from all other days.

Question: Jesus kept the 7th day Sabbath .... had He not ... would that have been a sin?

Correct, he is God's full-time Sabbath rest himself.

Jesus obeyed all the law, including the temporary ceremonial laws, under the pain of sin.
Do we obey the ceremonial cleanliness laws now?

Amen.

Jesus wrote it in stone Exo 32:16- and it does not say He is the Sabbath, is rest or a commandment essentially making Him the creation. Jesus in His own Words said is He Lord of the Sabbath i.e. the Creator, not that He is the Sabbath i.e. creation. He said the Sabbath was made for us.

The commandments are for us to keep- and not to change even a jot or tittle because we are not God. Why His faithful still kept the Sabbath according to the commandment in the NT Luke 23:56

It is unbelievably strange that most will say of the other commandments (of the 10) they they should be abided by ... excluding the 4th ... that is non sensical ... hypocritical.

My question to them is this .... Jesus kept the 7th day Sabbath ... if He had not ... would He have sinned?

It is non-sensical. Just goes back to the oldest argument- God's will versus man’s will.

Claire, does this nullify the 4th Commandment from GOD, He that never changes and said the Commandments are eternal?

Isaiah 66:22-23 (KJV):

22 "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain."

23 "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord."

Blessings Claire.

And that Sabbath rest from work for the people of God, from one new moon to the other, and one Sabbath to another, is the forecast of God's full-time Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ, where we rest full-time from our own work to save, and in his work which saves completely (Heb 4:8-10).

In the NT, we keep the Sabbath rest full-time.
