We are just trying to get everything together for Christmas. I still need to get Christmas cards out. We are doing photos cards this year for the first time. Still have a few gifts to buy. Then the fun part of wrapping which this year there will be more gift bags than anything. Will take our first trip with Grace to my parents for Christmas. Usually a 6 -7 hr trip so I'm figuring 8 hrs or so.

Just trying to make it thru the day... we had a lot of family issues this week, so I was trying to help out where I could over the internet and also looking into my dad's VA issues. Got that mostly handled and due to the stress this month with my aunt's found cancer, my brother, my mom and dad's issues iwth the VA... aunt flo was delayed and came to visit a week late.

Baby's teething and I've not been sleeping as much as I should, but we're alive still. I think we'll make it but it is slow going this week.

:hug Hadassah, so sorry you had such a crazy week.

I'm super excited. I think I may have found an irl sahm friend who has children close in age to mine. And, we go to church together. All of my other friends irl either are full-time working moms or not moms at all. To have a friend who lives a similar life to me would be so refreshing.

I'm supposed to get to gether with her next week!

I pray that you all have a blessed Christmas; that the ones you love are close by, or able to contact you; that you feel the presence (presents as in gifts) of Christ's birth and death on the cross; and that you have a peace in your heart knowing that He is still King of Kings~~

Merry Christmas to you sisters!!!

If any of you could say a prayer for me that would be lovely.

I am just so tired. I can't sleep at night. This is my first Christmas without my dad (he passed away in September) and all night while I'm trying to sleep (sometimes up until 2 am) I keep thinking about my dad and how much I miss him. It's awful.

Then of course our 3 year old wakes me up this morning at 4 am wanting to come into bed (which we let her do this morning, it's not that often she does it and if she does it's because she has bad dreams) so she came in and disturbed my sleep (after 2 hours) then of couse I had to get up this morning, we had removalists come and remove some furniture from our shed (we have been storing it for in-laws) so it's one awful day today . I am debating on having a nap but wonder if that will mean I won't be able to sleep again tonight (this has been going on for about 4 nights now) but need some rest. I might set the alarm to wake me after 1 hour or something.

I'm having a rough go of it also. My brother is creating problems again at home, he's in such another world mentally than he was years ago... and the ripple effects are felt here even across the ocean. :(

We're coming up on the anniversary of my grandfather's death in about a week and a half as well. :sigh:

 Barb! have a Merry Christmas too!

will it be white? LOL!

ours definitely will be! we had about 12 inches and more coming!
We had about 8 in. ourselves.
Most we had in about 30 years.

They are forecasting rain for Christmas. Yuck. Normally, I love rain, but it does not seem Christmassy to me.

Oh well, the kids will have lots to do inside!!

I am praying for you right now.
My husband said for you to try Valerian root; it's natural.
I recommend Chamomile tea with a splash of soy milk.
Can you grab a hot bath with some nice oil beads, and then a hot milk or maybe you can talk someone into a massage?
I used to read myself to sleep when I was stressed, but I am not able to as much anymore; hubby's hours makes him go to sleep so much earlier.

I lost my dad a few years ago, too. So did a couple of other gals here.
So if you'd like to talk....

I will pray for your brother and family.
I don't know the answer to that, but I have problem family members too.
They just don't think they are the problem; they blame everyone else.
Boundaries help us keep our sanity with those loved ones.

Death of loved ones around the holidays are especially hard.
Try to remember the good times and that now they are loved and held tight by our heavenly Father.

:groupray: I'm so sorry to hear you aren't having much fun at the moment either.

Coolmom, thanks for those sleeping tips.

I might have to give one of them a try if I have any more problems.

Fortunately last night I kind of crashed by about 11 and didn't wake up until around 7. So that's nearly 8 hours sleep. I'll probably have a little nap after lunch again and see how that goes. I commented to dh that must have been the best night sleep I've had in ages.

 Neenie and HS!
I lost my dad 3 weeks b4 my first son was born...so his birth was bittersweet. That Christmas was hard on our whole family.
We never really get over our loved ones being gone, but i will have to say it does easier to remember the good times year after year.
Instead of focusing on the loss, try to focus on your good Christmas memories with your loved one. Bring out pictures, favorite things of theirs (if you have them, or something similar), and play their fav Christmas music.
Celebrate their life! and the life of Jesus!
I will keep y'all in prayer.

My mom is in Colorado Springs...still in rehab after a stroke. So this is our first Christmas without her here with us....as well as without our dad.
So it's going to be difficult, but we will get through it!
Lean on those who you trust and love! And lean on God! He will give you strength and peace!:angel:

I got some "fluffy mail" yesterday but didn't know about it. DH checked the mail and voila - there was my Mei Tai carrier in the mail! I'd been waiting 3 weeks for it to come since I had ordered it second hand. I couldn't afford to go all out with the options I really want, and I found a site afterwards for a really pretty one. I needed something and really fast because the Didymos wrap that I have is too big for me (big enough for DH) and too hot for DS and I, and my slings work only when JD cooperates. He has a tendency to lean too much to either side, which throws my back out of alignment -- or he gets all tempermental and will rock back and forth right into my upper chest area and knock the wind out of me.

SOooooooooooooo I went all out when DH came back inside and strapped him on.

I am not really happy about the color (I'm not a huge fan of paisley) but I love the fact that the opposite side is khaki and I can switch it if I want. I noticed he is evenly distributed, and I can manipulate it better with my wrists than I could the didy. I needed a quick fix so as my dad says "Beggers can't be choosers" ;) LOL I do love it though! It was from a learning library that has since shut.

Gotta get rid of the didy since DH said it is too hot for him. grr. MEN!

it is awesome! If I knew I could sew one successfully (I might try when I go back to the US and have someone to look over my shoulder), I would. I'm thinking perhaps denim... that way it lasts "forever" and I can re-use some trousers that have out-lived their trouser-life but still have plenty of work left in them.

He got fussy this morning and I got him to take his mid day nap with no issues. Strapped him in and just got on the PC and out he was!

It's official. I work part time at the YMCA now during the days when my kids are at school. But I just wanted to pop in, and say all of you will always have my support. I was a SAHM for 11 years, and it was the best thing I ever did.

I just saw the movie "Marley and Me"....note, don't take any kids under the age of...hmmmmm....well, let's just say that there is swearing and you will have to explain what skinny dipping is, what they are doing under the covers, and what a pregnancy stick is. I don't care if it PG....it should be at least PG 13.

Anyway, I digress. In the movie there is a point where Jennifer Anniston says that when she is at work, she wants to be home with her kids, and when she is with her kids, her mind is on what she isn't getting done at work...and she isn't doing a good job at either job and has decided to come home. It was almost word for word what I said 11 years ago, when I left as a pharmaceuticial rep. Blew me right back to that day.

Bless each and every one of you, you are doing the right thing, no matter what level you are able to be at home at.

Hugs!
