I still cry round his birthday and the date he died/funeral.. Sometimes strange things set me off now that I have my son.. but it's because my grandaddy would have missed it and would have loved to have done these things with him.

We did lots together when I could go back home, or he could visit

So I'm guessing you didn't vote for him?

I don't really know that much about either of the guys who were running (Obama or McCain) Just what we saw on tv over here in Australia, which actually was a bit.

I was just so excited to hear Obama got in, I guess it was the idea of history changing or something.

no. didn't vote for him. I was not happy with the outcome of the election, however i will have to conceed or move out of the country! LOL!
I feel that Obama was elected into office due to the color of his skin rather than his policies and abilities. I cannot deny the historical significance of this election. I can only pray that God will guide his decisions.

May I just chime in. I voted for Obama, and my decision had nothing to do with his skin color. I have no party affiliation so I honestly looked at both candidates equally. I really wasn't sure who to vote for until the last couple of months. Most people I know who voted for him also mentioned that they did not select him because of his race.

Yeah I know how you feel. I'm not looking forward to Christmas this year because I'll miss my dad.

I wasn't happy with our prime minister either. He was not my personal choice.

I have seen a lot in the media about people in the states voting for the first time ever (and they are in their 60s/70s) also a lot was said in the media about people voting for him because he would be the first black president. I honestly never thought it could happen. I remember watching the show "24" with Keifer Sutherland, and dh and I would say - yeah like America is ever going to have a black president (not that we are racist at all) it's just that we never thought it would happen in our lifetime.

That is such a great photo! How warm is it there? We've been in coats and tooks for a while now.

What's a Took?

Aw, I know that feeling. I have days where I'm like that too. While I do go out most days, I don't really feel that I have a good friend. I have lots of aquaintances, but no really good friends (apart from dh obviously) My ds is nearly 7 and my dd is 3.

I am a work at home mom as well, married and have 3 kids ages 8,4,1 yrs. I love being at home and not having the pressure of taking them to daycare and then driving to work. I worked outside of the home for over 10 years and will never go back again. I work for a company called contract xchange. They are a Canadian company but they hire Americans as well. I is mostly customer service work. I still have to have my mom come over and watch the kids cause I can't have them in the room with me while I am taking phone calls and making noise. But you can make your own hours, so, if you want to work during a nap time or after they go to bed at night, you can. I had to make a certain amount of money so I had to get my mom to watch my kids so I could work 8 hrs a day.
I also just opened up an online Christian bookstore. I don't know a thing about online retail but I really liked the idea of owning my own Christian business. It is hard work, I have had to learn all about meta tags and keywords, and applying to google and yahoo ect. to get my biz ranked high on the search engines. I also have had to learn about internet marketing, which is a totally different beast from traditional marketing . Anyway, it's alot of work, usually more than if you work outside of the home but if it's your passion then you will find it fun and still get to be home with the kids.

Hi. I'm also a wahm/sahm. Lately more sahm than wah.

For those of you who stay home, how do you know that God has called you to remain in the role of SAHM over the years? I understand the initial convictions but I am interested in the long standing conviction to remain in the home.

I'm only in year 3 but that is because I resisted the Lord's obvious calling on my life for years. However, it has been confirmed this past weekend through prayer and discussion that I will be home likely for the duration of their young years. At home opportunities for me to work will open up once my son is in school but even then we feel strongly that someone should be home for the morning and afternoon hours with the kids.

My husband and I talked this weekend and really prayerfully considered the dynamic in our family, the way our children flourish, our marriage, availability to extended family and a newly conceived ministry. Through all that we both came to a peaceful agreement that while financed are tight the benefits we receive relationally are far superior to the income that I could bring home.

I'm just feeling so very blessed right now with an awesome husband and the ability to be home and available for my children when they have a need without the extra stress of having to shuffle other responsibilities.:)

I had been thinking of going back to work and praying about it. With all my heart I wanted to get back into the working world outside my home and had even spoken to my old employer at JP Morgan. They wanted me back and I was so happy about it.

Then I found out the Lord had other plans for me. I signed up with a great company selling their products and have only been with them a month and already I have two other SAHM/WAHM signed up under me.

Amazing things happen when we listen for God's voice in the midst of every day life but even more so when we apply His will in our lives. :)
