Mare and friends;

Could you all help me in praying for my 4 y.o. daughter, Victoria? She is still sick with that flu, bronchitis, whatever it is. She took 10 days of antibiotics for her ears, and seems that she still is running a fever at her dad's house. I don't get her until tonight/tomorrow, and I am so sick with worry.

I thought she was well now. I really feel helpless to do anything but pray at this point.

I appreciate any and all petitions sent up on her behalf.
Thanks ladies!!

Me, too, Mare, me too.

I just feel ready for the warmth; maybe it will kill that virus? Then again, imagine how miserable it would be to be sick when it's hot...I don't know. All I know is, we are God's people and we are supposed to bring all our burdens to Him.

I am certainly laying her at His merciful feet.
Going to go pray some more for all.

thanks again~

Oldest was a breeze, was potty trained completely under two years old. BUT she would use going potty for a reason to get up all night long, so we finally put the potty chair in her room instead of the bathroom.

I'll admit, I was so proud of potty training my daughter so fast.

God does some funny things about pride...ever notice that?

2nd daugher was too busy having fun to be potty trained. She'd go on the potty. Smile very happily with herself, go out in the yard, and go again within the hour.

If she was playing, and I knew what was happenning, I'd rush her to the house, with her screaming at the top of her lungs "NO I DON'T WANT THE POTTY RIGHT NOW PUT ME DOWN!"

AND she didnt' want to wear diapers or pull-ups because her older sister didn't. I'd put them on, she'd undo any fashion of clothing (she is still very mechanical) and take the protection off. Then pull her pants back up. She just wanted to be messy (yes both forms of the mess).

After half a year of trying MnM bribes, big girl underwear, having her just sit there on the potty for a reward when it happened, my mother suggested, "Well, if she has control, but just doesn't want to stay clean, let her clean the mess. She seems to want to be in charge of it, so let her be."

So we had her start to wipe up the floor, help clean out her pants and underwear, (we let the sheets go, no one can be blamed for what they do when they sleep), etc.

Guess what, potty trained in less than a week.

God had made me humble, but then I began to be arrogant and think I knew it all again!

Then came son. Who truely wanted to be potty trained, but just had no control. By far more heart wrenching than the child that is just too busy to take the time to go. He'd come back from school or preschool, and be wet, but never told anyone he'd had an accident because he hates it so (even though we kept a change of clothes at the preschool...they allowed kids who had occasional accidents - like once a week - but who knew what bathrooms were for in general. )

The greatest way God can teach us himility is when we try to help someone who has trouble no matter how hard they try to fix it.

Don't let anyone tell you any of your children's potty training habits "should" be any specific way. It is all about what they are able to do.

I don't listen to anyone's "shoulds" but I admit I'm a bit bad with saying "should" to my husband about others, and I ask forgiveness from the Father for that right now.

I believe I have done my best to let all of our children be themselves, and follow their God-given bent.

You have too, Faithmom!!!
