A door on the West side of the U.S. Capitol was left open and mostly unguarded for key moments during the Jan. 6 riot, allowing more than 300 people to enter the building unimpeded even as officers fought valiantly to keep protesters out of other sections of the official home of Congress, according to police security footage obtained by Just the News.
The footage -- which confirms concerns first raised by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., two years ago -- shows an episode in a narrow hallway in the middle of the Capitol that began around 2:30p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021 right after the first breaches were reported elsewhere in the landmark building.

It doesn't matter how they got in. They knew they didn't belong there and once they were in what did they do then?

A guy sees a gang of robbers robbing a jewelry store. He goes around the back and discovers the emergency door is not locked. He enters and while the robbers are in the front of the store he ransacks and steals from the backroom. How's he any better than the robbers in the front?

Ah, you're a mind reader. They "knew" when Capitol security opened the doors for them that they should not go in? The select committee did a great disservice to the American people by concealing such information.

Since the area was gated off and police on the outside said to leave and not go in, no insurectionist accidentally entered. And once in, they illegally entered locked rooms and did damage and stole items besides.

Obviously, if the door was open, there was a traitor on the inside.

The riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6th was illegal.

There were plenty of people who were let in, that's who I am talking about. Any violent person should be convicted, and any person who was let in by security and if asked to leave left should not be in prison. I can show you the mostly peaceful protests in Minneapolis, that does not mean every person there, including reporters, should be imprisoned. That's the horrible injustice, I think the most shocking thing is how many Americans, because of their political persuasion, are willing to remain silent about the injustice.

In fact, I can confidently say that's why the government and country are in such a mess. You know, if conservatives win the next election I am confident they are not going to hunt down every person at the hundreds of violent left wing riots in our country. That would show a moral difference, let's see what happens.

NO, there were plenty people who defied the barriers set up around the Capitol and the police who were outside guarding it.

Stop trying to defend those who illegally entered the Capitol on Jan 6th. Over a 1000 have been arrested, tried and convicted for their crimes.

Yes, there were plenty of people who did not respect the barriers and the police, and yes there were many people there who did not act violently and yet went to prison.

Acting violently is not a pre-requisite to be considered a criminal. Ignoring the police, ignoring the barriers, and trespassing are not okay.

Romans 13:1 -2 Every [fn]person is to be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except [fn]from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore [fn]whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.

You don't put someone in PRISON for trespass when they don't know they are trespassing. That's injustice.

But they knew they were trespassing when they ignored the barriers and police.
You have to feel mighty entitled to ignore barriers and police.

Many with more minor violations that were sentenced got home detention. It was fair.
