Here's a hint for you....the Bible Revelation 17 says "the city that sits on seven mountains"......So it's a religious organization, situated in Rome, it;s colours are scarlet and purple, it blasphemes God, it is wealthy adorned in gold, silver and diamonds....leaves little doubt who it is does it?

Since when are cities religious organizations?

it;s colours are scarlet and purple, it blasphemes God, it is wealthy adorned in gold, silver and diamonds....leaves little doubt who it is does it?

You're right, it doesn't leave much doubt. Bedecked by the imperial colors of Caesar, blaspheming God, drunk on the blood of saints, adorned...it seems quite obvious to me that it's referring to ancient, pagan Rome.

I don't know where you live, but here in the Midwest we have numerous churches with signs in front of them identifying themselves as Roman Catholic churches. Are they some new denomination?

Must be as the Catholic Church does not use the word 'Roman'.

I'm not Catholic, but hey, why let annoying things like facts get in the way of an opportunity to sledge someone.

Neither was it a Catholic who got offended and decided to lay down the smack on being loving.

Do you consider insulting people to be loving?
When did I insult You? If you were insulted, then that is, sorry to say it, a problem that lies with you. Do you want me to use your methods of confronting your neighbour? Okay, I will play your childish game:
1. You insulted me first
2. Read Matthew 5:38-48 and pray on it.

Wrong again....the Roman church to which you espouse came into being 323 AD....the true Christians who succeeded the apostles were around ever since the days of Jesus....time you put down the Roman propaganda and studied the Bible and true historical accounts.
If you suggest Though that the early Christians would have belonged to a protestant sect if they had been alive today then you are wrong. SERIOUSLY wrong.

So why did you respond to beebert, a relative newcomer to the forum, yet you have allowed jeepneytravel to post multiple insulting posts without comment?
That is because he belongs to a protestant sect and is proud of it rather than of being christian. Not because he follows his own ability of discernment.

Wrong again, you really need to study true history and not Protestant propagandist and their lies.

I'm just glad you may have read that passage, even if only via a Google search. Please take the time to read the rest of the sermon on the mount as well. It's great stuff and may help you get past whatever it is that makes to act the way you have on this thread. God bless.

I have known my share of stupid people and, interestingly, some of them are quite sincere and devout Christians. I have also known my share of very intelligent people and most that I have known have rejected Christianity. God does not judge a person according to their intelligence.

I am talking about the stupidity that leads to banal evil. The kind of stupidity that caused the majority of Germany to worship Hitler. To participate in the inquisition etc. I am not talking about unintelligence.

I think I see. I would call that ignorance rather than stupdity. Ignorance can be merely the lack of knowledge or it can be the willful disregard of knowledge, both of which happened in the 1930's in Germany.

Maybe we could ask these sola scripturists. :)

Behold the great Reformers!

My patron saint, William Tyndale, should have been up there, IMHO

Tyndale and defying the Pope

William Tyndale

A clergyman hopelessly entrenched in Roman Catholic dogma once taunted Tyndale with the statement, “'We are better to be without God’s laws than the Pope’s!"”.

Tyndale was infuriated by such Roman Catholic heresies, and he replied, “"I defy the Pope and all his laws.
If God spare my life ere many years, I will cause the boy that drives the plow to know more of the scriptures than you!"”

Tyndale was then strangled and burnt at the stake in the prison yard, Oct. 6, 1536. His last words were, "Lord, open the king of England's eyes."
This prayer was answered three years later, in the publication of King Henry VIII’s 1539 English “Great Bible”.
