First of all, Christianity is not the only religion that is hated, or even just mocked and ignored, globally. If you'd lived outside of the US, or perhaps even just along its coastlines, you'd realise that there are plenty of people out there, religious or non-religious, atheist or theist, that hate other religions.

Its depressingly common.

For the record, my personal experience with other atheists is that they don't hate religious people, just some of the behaviours that their belief systems compel them to follow.

Moving on. Even if your entire existince has been limited to the central part of the US, I'd be seriously surprised if you were unable to find examples of your fellow Christians holding hateful and bigoted views of other religions.

From a culturally specific view, people don't appear to hate Islam or pagan religions in your neck of the woods, because Mulisms and pagans are 1. Pretty bloody thin on the ground in the US and 2. Not trying to ram their own belief system down your throat, have religiously motivated psuedo-science like creationism taught inside public schools or used to make legislation.

I know why, because Satan is trying to get you to hate christianity and to turn to evolution, if it wasn't true then other religions would be attacked and mocked just as much as christianity, but every athiest I see only mocks and hates Christianity and the Bible, and just ignore the rest, does that not mean all of you know there is truth in the Bible?

If its the case that you see atheists only mocking Christianity and the Bible, why don't you go onto an atheist website and propose that Islam is the one true religion and the the Koran is the inspired, inerrant word of God.

Or, if you want to see Christians doing it, why not make the same proposals here?

I know the Bible rather well, having quite enjoyed the 12 or so years of Catholic education my parents selected for me, which included plenty of Sunday school and other religious eduction. However, nothing in my entire educational career, or the significant amount of extra bibilical research and criticism I have read since, has led me to believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, or even true in large part.

As someone who has a layman's understanding of why the theory of evolution is the best current explanation for the diversity of life on the planet, I write here to counter the points of the ignorant, the misguided, the deluded and the deliberately duplicitous, who post so much misinformation her about the facts as the accord with reality and the why's and hows of evolutionary biology.

Alot of you will disagree with what I just wrote, but every athiest/evolutionist I've seen shows that they do believe in the word of God/The Bible, if you didn't you would just ignore it, and you would also attack other religions other then Christianity.

I'm here to stop people like you from spreading misinformation, and perhaps persuade a few others who are on the fence to have a look for themselves at what they believe and why.

My advice to you is, step back and examine why others hold the beliefs and positions they do. Travel, talk to people, get an education and see some stuff.

Once you can understand why others can rightly and correctly hold beliefs that don't line up with yours, and have perfectly valid reasons for doing so, you likely won't make posts that are so terribly highly a lack of self awareness and awareness of others.

Why do you think there are so many religions in the world?

It's called divide-and-conquer.

Honorable mention go to diabolical mimicry, diabolical plagiarism, and [current] science.

The answer is much simpler than that, it's because there are con men everywhere in every country in the world, sometimes the con men are the leaders of those countries who want to dominate and control the people, what better way to do that than with religion, set it in motion then become the one that has the ear of the God.

Just as history is written by the victors so is the religion, the victors decide what the people should believe.

I havn't seen many christians who believe in evolution, and the ones that do are catholic or diest, which those are not christians.

Catholics aren't Christians? Tell that to the Europeans, Latin Americans and Asians.

If you insist that Catholics =/= Christian, then you can more than halve the estimate of Christians globally, from about 2.1 billion to about 900 million.

Any other denominations at aren't actually Christian? Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Methodist?

I am not an atheist but I can handle the chicken and egg question rather easily. The egg came first because there were eggs long before there were chickens. Simple and easy.

I think part of the problem is that there is very little effort on the part of other religions to get their version of creationism taught in public schools. There is no Muslim equivalent of Answers in Genesis, no Hindu Discovery Institute, no Jewish equivalent of Kent Hovind. Violations of the Constitution tend to stir up strong emotions in other people, and not just in atheists.

Also, what do you base your claim that only Christianity is attacked? Do you ever visit Muslim or Hindu forums that push creationism?

Atheism is technically the most hated religious group, although some would throw a hissy fit about it being labelled as a religion, for various reasons. Christianity certainly is not the only religion that gets hated on. Come on, you surely are old enough to remember 9/11 and how much hate Muslims experienced because of that, and still do for it really.

The real question is why Christians use Jesus's name as a swear, if you think it is such a terrible thing to do as per your religion. And, it isn't the only religion that has an icon named as a swear, even in the United States.

By all logic, satan should not give two craps about atheists, which would be souls already going to hell, as per your beliefs. Why waste time on us when he could be going after souls he doesn't already "own"?

Meet Harun Yahya, a Turkish Muslim who has dedicated his life to propogating US-style old earth creationism, along with a load of other rubbish, such as anti-semitism, holocaust denial, and fringe conspiracy theories. He also managed to get Dawkin's website banned in Turkey.

He's so bonkers that he's even adopted stuff from the Institute for Creation Research for Muslim apologetics. Somewhat amusingly it turns out, as the Koran's account of creation is more than a little different from the Genesis account.

There is also a stream of Islamic creationist "thinking" (loose definition that), connected with those Intelligent Design lunatics.

What Islamic apologetics lacks is the young earth creationist position espoused by US biblical literalists. Mostly because the Koran isn't tied to a specific age of the earth like some literalists believe the bible is.

I don't want to know what Harun Yahya said. I want to know what Koran said about creation. Can you give me some precise links? I suspect that what Koran said about creation is nothing more than what the Bible says.
