The synoptic attack their current rivals while John attacks the current rivals at the time. It's no surprise.

Sure. The problem is what is done with this material down the road. John's Gospel gives fodder for future antisemitism whereas I don't think the same can be said of the synoptics.

Possible. But I don't think any of them paint a great picture and it's important to remember that really only the Pharisees were left after the Temple was destroyed so anything attacking them was basically attacking all Jews who followed Judaism.

Only if Christians were aware of this, and I don't think they generally were.

I just spent the day with my children at Pea Ridge Military Park in northwest Arkansas. There were two areas there where the Cherokee passed thru during the Trail of Tears. I stood for some time in a tearful silence, reflecting on the atrocity committed against my ancestors, the sacrifices they made, and all the suffering they endured during their forced removal and the final death march to Indian Territory. I touched the earth that they touched and walked some of the path that they walked. It was a deep spiritual experience for me. I had the opportunity to speak to my children about what happened there to our NDN ancestors. I gave them the time to stop and reflect as well. I answered their questions and we also talked about the Civil War battle that took place there.

Quote is broken...

I have heard of the two-spirit view of the Native Americans. I hadn't researched much into the meaning of it, but I did read your article right now. Thank you for sharing it.

This is what some call bigender or gender-fluid within the trans community. I'm glad to see that it is accepted within the NA society. It also seems that there are lots of times when the two-spirit resort to exactly the same thing I do when I don't want to explain things - use a simpler or more familiar term to avoid dealing with more questions lol

Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission is weighing whether to ask the Vatican to repeal the Papal Bulls of Discovery that granted 15th-century explorers the right to conquer the New World and the “heathen” aboriginal people that called it home.

Chair Murray Sinclair says the commission examining the impact of Canada’s residential schools is looking carefully at the 1455 and 1493 Catholic edicts as part of its final report.

Many argue the proclamations legitimized the treatment of aboriginal people as “less than human.” Crown sovereignty in Canada can be traced back to those papal bulls and neither Canada nor the United States has repudiated them, Sinclair said.

Movement afoot to have Vatican repeal edicts on ‘heathen’ natives

"The ground on which we stand is sacred ground. It is the dust and blood of our ancestors." -- Plenty Coups, CROW

Mother Earth is the source of life and the place all life returns to. She gives us life. She feeds us through our journey and she waits for us to return to her. The Indian way is to recognize the earth as the place of our ancestors. That is why certain places on earth are considered sacred areas and sacred land; this is the place of our ancestors. We all need to reflect upon the earth, the place where our ancestors lived. We need to have love and respect for the earth.

My Creator, let me honor the place of our ancestors, Mother Earth.
