If you are of Indigenous descent, please share what ancestry you are descentant from.
My great grandmother was Native but I do not know of what tribe. She was 4 generations ago & not much knowledge about her was passed on down. I do, however, have a black & white picture of her even though she was very old, in her 90's or perhaps 100's. Everybody loved her & she had many, many, many decendants. More than 500 relatives show up for a reunion every year in her name.

I just wanted to pop in & say "hi" to everybody.

I had a very good day -- I work ina very positive place, the Division Surgeon's Office in an Army unit in Korea (I function as a Korean linguist and a driver for them), and during our Christmas celebration I was very happy to see everyone of all our various denominations (I am a Lutheran and most of the rest are Catholics with a few other protestants) bow our heads and pray together.

It felt really good to pray in the work place before our meal. I know there is one person who is a non-believer but they understand that there is something good about us all praying together before a meal. It has been a positive and rewarding day.

I would also like to note it was entirely inappropriate of the worker to roll her eyes at red fox for the 'merry christmas.' For instance, if I was working and someone did say 'Happy Hanukkah' or another religious variation I would not roll my eyes but be pleased nontheless -- we all have a right to express our religious devotion regardless of what it is for.

Good quesion, sadly I have no answer yet, nor am I totally sure who they are, sorry. I should really find out some more about that.

I agree there

All of the graphics are just too cute and great!

Sorry about your experiences Red. It certainly can have a snowball effect on one's self, especially at this time of year. :prayer:

jm- How awesome that so many came together in unity! If you like to read, check out the book Sea Of Glory. It's incredible! It's a true story about the WWII vessel, USAT Dorchester and how all the chaplains, of four different faiths, came together to help all on board.

cristianna,
Just want to say I love your name. I wanted to name one of our daughters Christiana, but I couldn't talk my husband into it. :)

LOVE the graphics Red Fox! Friday ...... Yes!!!!!

We have a 2-hour school delay today cause of last night's snowstorm. A couple of my kids are still here! Wish we'd had a snow day but, at least we got to sleep a little late today.

Dangerous Movie

There will be a new children’s movie out in December called "The Golden Compass". T he movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C.S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis’ symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.

Clearly, Pullman’s main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."

While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman’s hatred of Jesus Christ.

"The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

The above is the synopsis shared with the Muhlenberg Pastors. For additional information and verification, you can go to the Snopes.com website at: http://snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp.

Thanks Amylisa! :) Snow storm? Ah, I love snow storms! But we have no white to look at right now. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Yes Red Fox, that is one of the articles I've read about the movie. It certainly did not make the grand entrance and ticket sales it was hoping for so far. Not sure if that's good or bad.

I know a mixture of people with varying views about it. Some are very vocal about not seeing it. Others are using it as a tool to have lengthy talks with their children. And others just simply say it's fictional. It has certainly created a ton of controversy.

Sorry about my lack of knowledge there, I think she may be.
I should have been in bed by that point last night.

Hopefully it can be used as a tool for good.
