Recovery from the occult forum - an explanation

I still see no answer as to who is ministering in that forum. Am i missing something or is this a secret lol

Excuse me... i did see it said that moriah will be ministering with supervision... aside form 'who else' will be ministering, i would like to know if its true that moriah will be and if so why

was worried about Sylvan Spirits, mainly in the terms of age. The world sucks unbelievably at times, and didnt want to see him have to be exposed to the ugly side of life.

He has a heart of gold, and a maturity beyond his years, he is also well grounded in Christ. I am still a bit iffy about the age, however i am glad he is there

You could have a calling in this ministry. No need to post your pm. I do hope though, that if you can... if it is possible... please let your parents know and ask their permission. They might surprise you and support you in this... and even join you in prayers. God moves in mysterious ways... we all have different callings...

Honestly I have no idea what my parents might do. My father's old Bible is covered in dust downstairs, and I don't know what he believes anymore. My stepmother would probably support me, but I don't really have a clue what she believes either. I know my mother is a Christian, and she might join me in prayer, if she didn't assume I was a devil-worshipper due to the company I keep. I'm sorry, but I've always keep my business my own, so my parent's don't know what I do if they don't have to. I tend to walk my own path, and I'm afraid asking "permission" would do more harm then good. I don't think they'd worry about the nature of what I am doing, but they might worry about my mental health and my faith, and I'd prefer to avoid that.

For the record, I will minister if needed. Right now I'm just praying and offering support and comfort. Though I suppose that could be considered ministry.

The reason I do not tend to post about it or report it is that compared to those with the real affliction this pales in comparision.

Now that I'm approved, I will be one of the ones ministering. Many members of the Recovery staff will be ministering, as well. I fully expect that Father Rick will spend significant time in there.

Since you will be ministering, i see according to your icon you are a christian 'mystic'. Can you explain what this is in enough detail that we can see where you stand doctrinally concerning witchcraft and other areas of 'mysticism' and the occult? How is it you hope to see one delivered, and delivered from what TO what?

Talk to your mom about this. Moms love their babies (teen/adult children) no matter what... unconditionally. She is a Christian, she will understand if you put it to her the right way ... at the right time. Timing is everything.

Please... let your mom into your life. It might be a blessing to her to know that you are truly a loving and strong Christian who cares. She might understand more than you think. Pray first and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

I know I should. I'm just wary of things. I imagine she would be supportive of me. She was on my side when my grandmother expressed concern over my interest in fantasy and roleplaying. You see, my grandmother was converted around the time of the big moral panic regarding roleplaying, and took in a lot of weird ideas as a result. She's a wonderful lady, and a devout Christian, but she has a few misconceptions about things. Thankfully I was able to convince her that fantasy is far from demonic. I'm still hesitant, though. If I do bring it up with my mother, I would be very careful in my wording, even though I imagine she would support me anyways. If I had to guess, probably something along the lines of "That's okay, honey, just be careful."

Offering a listening ear, and listening with out judgment and condemnation, validating feelings and acknowledging that a person has the right to feel, are some of the most powerful things that a spirit filled Christian can do

It was through doing that, people on this forum have helped me get into a place where I can consider darkening the doors of a church without being scared

Quite honestly the issue hasn't come up, but to clarify I am considered a "friend" of the board, and since it is fledgling not sure exactly where I "stand" per se, so a few people tongue in cheeked me as a "lay minister" there. BUT, the reality is that I have befriended members there, quite honestly and without external motives. Hence, a friend of the board.

I also have made myself publically known here as a friend of the forum, whatever its ultimate fate is, that is where I am at today. I do not wish to be "hidden" or anything else, but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas as far as the rules there.

I honestly want to see this worked out - there is a lot of criticism here, without much solution. Cases have been made both ways - this is not easy.

I will answer your question, but I would like to see the pastoral team chime in - frankly I was not a player in the making of this forum, I was invited due to pre-existing relationships. I was not aware that there would be such resistance from that group and they are key players. This may not all matter, but if it does down the road then I will be happy to address it. If it freaks anyone out or if they think I am evasive then I will kick it around a little later when I have more time.

Why not make it that you have to be approved by staff to enter the "private" forums...That way they wouldn't be so mysterious.. Just a review of someones posts should show the maturity the believer walks in and their ability to minister...pax..kim

I had to be approved by Steffi before I was granted access. Membership is granted by the Pastoral team and the Recovery team, though the members have a say in it as well.

My daughters have their own website that has a lot of role playing.

Grandmas can be a bit rough, but they love us unconditionally too, but in a different way then moms.

I think your mom would be so happy that you confided and opened up to her. We moms worry a lot about our young ones. We trust them, it's the world that we worry about.

Your avatar is fine. Dungeons and Dragons is fine too.... like all things... in moderation.
