Recovery from the occult forum - an explanation

If we are using Wiki rules isn't there a real danger of the forum being taken over and used for Satan's bidding? Making this secret will just make people that much more curious about it. Another thing. If this stuff is addressed openly others may be helped by it. To think discussing Satanism versus God openly gives Satanism an edge is silly unless you lack faith in the good guy upstairs.

Hey Christ pulled me out of a major cesspool. Christ is the only reason why i keep putting one foot infront of another. Christ is the one who I hide in, when the old ones come calling, trying to convince me go hunting.


When I first came to faith, the enemy fought hard to stop me changing camps, including 2 almost potential car crashes, which only stopped from being actual car crashed because I called on the name of God.

As hard as the enemy tried to get me to falter and fall, I have learnt that God, fights far harder to protect those who are His.

I created this new private Recovery forum based on this PM I received yesterday:




It's a private subforum for Recovery - they already have another Private forum - they require private forums as their work is sensitive and mostly confidential.

The name is Hebrew for City of Refuge.

It's NOT a satanic exclusive private forum.

It is for CHRISTIANS who are recovering from a past of occultism.

It is only accessible by members of the Recovery Staff Team, and the Pastoral Team.

Only members of the Recovery Staff Team and the Pastoral Team can grant access to members. No one else can give this access except them.

Once access is given, a "refuge" icon shows up in the member's post but only staff can see this.

I apologise for the lack of explanation given to members or staff, this was only done 10 hours ago just before I went to bed.

I repeat, this is a private RECOVERY forum for CHRISTIAN members recovering from a past of the occult. Recovery already has a private forum, this is a subforum.

I dont see why they shouldnt have their own forum. The hostility we saw in the earlier threads shows that the people WANTING to recover and find Jesus needs it. Look at the posts and see how Hostile it gets. Let them find peace in God and repent their sins and find forgivness.

Did my life change YES.

Must have for I follow Christ, work for a church and train to be pastor.

The admittance to train is strenous and you have to have a clean bill of mental health as well as referances from respected qualified Christian pastors/vicars/ministers.

The only graphic stuff that interests me is tied up with Christs offer of salvation and some of the tougher bits of Christian theology .

My concern is for those marginalised and despised by the church when Christ made space for such people despite having no place to lay His head.

Recovery was never enough, I choose to live and that is something I wish to see Freitag being permitted to do and when she is ready, Moriah.

And yes dears, I follow Christ TOTALLY.

This has to be the most ridiculous and dangerous idea ive seen yet on this forum. People who need help dont need a place where they can all be codependant and are hidden from people who can help them.

Not to mention what something like this will draw here . Playing around with the occult is dangerous.

There isnt enough supervision on this board now and dealing with occult issues is very serious and cannot be run by someone in "recovery" nor someone who claims to be possessed.

I cannot even believe this would be considered much less implimented here. Apparantly this board has taken a 180 degree turn in its "ministry".

I plead the Holy blood of Jesus over this place and ask His protection for the members here especially now. Truely His return will be soon when everywhere one looks now evil is called good and good called evil.

May God have mercy on those who lead others astray in their ignorance of the dangers of an idea like this having no deep knowledge of the Spirit world.

People who have been abused meet together to work through their issues. Why? Because those who have been abused are often hurt by what would be a passing remark to another.

So many people have ranted and raved due to some people posting things. Things which are DIRECTLY tied into this new forum. So a solution is made. A solution which solidifies the unconditional love that Christians should bestow on even the satanists, as well as those recovery, and a solution which will allow those who don't want to see such posts, not have to.

Yet it's still not good enough? Why? Doesn't this solve the problem? Is it not helping these people who struggle with things which are of the exact amplitude to any other sin which nailed Jesus to His cross? One sin is not worse than another to Christ. They are equal. In this society, of course there are differences. But this isn't about the society, this is about a forum, one which people incessantly proclaim to be Christian, yet when a solution is made and carried into action which permits those struggling with an occult past to be reached out to, to have refuge, it's ripped apart.

People here don't know everyone who's been in the occult. They don't know the satanists. They know a few who struggle with demons more openly, yet even still, they don't know the people underneath. Have any of these people tried to extend love, not tough love or biblical "here's a scripture as to why you're going to hell" love, but an actual hand extended in love? So few. There are some, but so few overall.

The demons which the people in the City of Refuge struggle with aren't worse than what most Christians struggle with, they're just different. Ask someone who is an alcoholic what kind of demons they have. Ask someone who is depressed. Or who smokes. Or anything else. The demons of the past perhaps? We all have pasts. These issues, demons, satan, they aren't worse than any of ours.

Cast the first stone, but make sure you stare at Jesus while you're throwing it. That isn't just for this thread, so please don't think it's directed at any one person, it's a lesson in generalization which is applicable to life.

Actually, the Satanist (I speak in the singular because no one else has come forward yet) is not allowed. I was blocked from the beginning. This place is not for me, it is for the Christians who wish to have support in changing their spiritual path from an occult path to Christianity. No non-Christians allowed. To be fair, I don't think I would really be very helpful in that regard. I have been told I can be very persuasive, and these are people who do not wish to be persuaded.

In fact, there is no place here for me. Which is why I roam and post and people get mad. How about a place in NCR for occult paths? The Christians who get all scandalized could stay out and we would have a place to play without worrying about being an undue influence.

As far as the "love" I have received here...all too conditional. Stay on your chain or be slapped, and even if you stay on your chain we will pretend you didn't and try to slap you anyway. I like the chain...but the slaps need to be just a bit more loving. And preceded by at least dinner, maybe some dancing, a little wine...

All this has caused serious problems for those afflicted and trying to come up with a solution.

I understand there are big issues here like board governance, but, if possible can people please keep in mind that there are hurting people out there and that this if for real. Thank you for many members out there that, even if they are opposed, at least are not slamming some of our other members and causing further issues.

There are issues that need to be worked out. Discussed. I understand that.

With that being said I am not the spokesperson for the board. I am a cop and by nature protective and sometimes a bit rough on the outside (yes a cop with a philosophy degree from Michigan - I like to keep people on their toes with this stuff). I apologize if I come off rough sometimes but I have to remember that not everybody has to live in the world that I am called to live in.

With that being said, I feel qualified to be a minister in that board, because, and I qoute:

First of all this is for CHRISTIANS seeking repetance and forgiveness. and the reason they need their own forum is bc of just what you posted,

You are a prime example of why they need they're own forum. bc saying things like this do not help anyone. ALL who accept Jesus and make an honest effort to change their ways will be forgiven.

Yet why is it that I see so much condemning from our brothers and sisters on here? Everyone who comes to God in good faith should have a chance for forgiveness. who are we to stop them? These people want Christ, they want change. let them have it.

I haven't read through the whole thread but I think having a place to sort out what happened in a safe environment is a really good idea.

When I was in high school, I was approached by a Cult called the Forever Family led by Stuart Trail. I was vulnerable and looking for love and acceptance which I was not finding at my Catholic Church at the time. I was in the cult for over a year, even became the house church secretary. When the time came that everyone was being moved to New York, I panicked and called a friend who had gotten me into the cult and who later joined a Baptist Church for help to help me get out. Members of her church came and helped me leave. My parents were not okay with me attending a Baptist Church, my local Catholic Church wanted nothing to do with me, and I drifted into the occult. I was heavily involved with the occult not knowing the true dangers. I was so naive that I didn't know the grip that satan had on me. I had gotten into drugs, alcohol and sex. It wasn't until years later, I saw the passion play titled Thou Art the Christ that my heart was opened to the truth. I started attending a non-demoninational (sp) church and spoke to the pastor about my past. My pastor did an evening study about the occult shortly after our talk. When I told him about all the unpublished books that I had on the subject, his only response was to throw it all out. I threw one book out 3 or 4 times. I don't know how it kept showing up in my apartment. Things got scary at my place, things I couldn't explain. When I told a co-worker about it, she called her pastor and her entire church prayed for me the whole night. Whatever had been in my place was removed.

The cult I was in, still exists under a new name. They are called the Church of Bible Understanding. The people I knew in the occult are still very active in PA. What happened to me happened 20 years ago, so I have pretty much sorted my past out. I was lucky. I was drawn to a bible believing church that had a great pastor who understood my past and was able to help me. People that have not experienced these things sometimes have trouble understanding it. When a person is coming out of this type of environment, he/she needs to be able to talk about it. To get it out. To clear his/her mind and head. My church even allowed me to attend the children's bible time (as a helper) so that I could resort and learn the basic truths that had gotten distorted from my past.

Sorry that I seem to be writing a book. But this area should exist with parameters in place. There should be knowledgable understanding, patient and loving pastors as moderators and managers on the thread. These individuals should be involved in the discussions. And very importantly these individuals should be consistantly lifted up in prayer by any and all prayer warriors on this site.
