You mean God's elect were enemies to God but not under wrath?

Correct, they were reconciled to God instead. Rom 5:10

This sounds even more confusing. In what way were they seen by God as enemies then?

Well that means you cant receive it.

"To be an enemy of God means be under God's wrath. If you are reconciled to God you are not an enemy anymore, thus not under wrath or condemnation."

This is to me the very obvious teaching of Scripture. I don't think you can get around that.

Im right because the scripture is right. Sinners who Christ died for are'nt condemned while they are unbelieving enemies, because they are reconciled to God. Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Scripture is right, your interpretation of Scripture is wrong.
Christ died for all sinners, not just the ones that will be saved.
All sinners are condemned if they do not believe in Jesus.
Only those who believe in Jesus will be saved.
Being reconciled to God is not the same as being saved and forgiven by God.

Hi…..new to Christianity in so much as :-

>Asked for forgiveness, absolute heartfelt forgiveness
>Repentance of all sinful behaviours of the flesh, heart and mind, completely changed my behaviours now aligned to Jesus
>Read Gods word daily
>Attend church with like minded people
>pray daily
>love daily
>Do good works (no matter how small or big) daily
>Talk openly about Jesus and his work/my testimony
>Have Faith that God will guide me

Reading this thread has been interesting and somewhat confusing but am I off the mark in saying that the above is the basis of reconciliation with God?

You deny the Truth, those whom Christ died for are reconciled to God by His death, while they are enemies.

No, I affirm that they were enemies while being reconciled through his death, so they were no longer enemies.

I think the idea you can be reconciled to God and still be an enemy to God is a faulty idea, by its own logic.

None of that is the basis of our being reconciled to God.
Only the death of Christ and His resurrection could bring about our reconciliation.
And the benefit of that reconciliation (being adopted as sons and spending eternity in Heaven with God) is received through faith in Christ.

Thank you, so we are already reconciled?

Rom 5:8-11 - "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also celebrate in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation."
Just because God reconciled the world to Himself (or rather, made reconciliation available), does not mean that an individual has been reconciled to Him. It is through faith that we receive reconciliation, and without faith it is impossible to receive reconciliation.

Being reconciled to God is not the same as being saved and forgiven by God.

False, yes it is, when one is reconciled to God #1 They reside in Gods Favor, for the very word denotes that,

katallassō:

  1. to reconcile (those who are at variance)
  2. return to favour with, be reconciled to one
  3. to receive one into favou

#2 God is at peace with the reconciled Col 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

#3 Those reconciled, God doesnt impute sin, which is the equivalent of forgivenss 2 Cor 5:19

19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Non imputation is forgiveness Rom 4:7-8

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

So you make foolish unlearned comments all the time, but Im not going to spend a lot of time on them like I did this time.

Contradiction so false. They were reconciled to God while being enemies.
That is what I'm saying. And after they had been reconciled they were no longer enemies.

You are saying they were reconciled while being enemies, and still enemies after being reconciled. How can you then say they were reconciled? If they were made legally righteous, like you say they were, it means they were no longer enemies, since they are counted as righteous. Sounds like you want have the cake and eat it too.

If Christ died for you, yes. But He didnt die for everyone
That is a LIE! We have already exposed it with very clear Scripture.
"and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:2
Speak truth or shut up!

I know it can get frustrating, but try to keep it friendly. After all we are supposed to be brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless!
