• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

goals are good. they help trigger the ?reward? system in the brain. I will try to be more zealous with my spiritual practices and to show up to work everyday.

Achieved my goal to shower 2x a week, keep a medication journal and walk more often

Now, stepping up the radical in an effort to turn around my life

No way for me to get out of a rut except to change what seems impossible, by doing something completely different

You are doing great, Spice. You are very inspiring. I just looked back at my goals and I am doing a little bit better by being more aware of those things and consciously wanting to change them. They are all still there but becoming less, sort of. As all of the issues were caused by anxiety they have been reduced by default as I quit caffeine, sugar and nicotine all of which increase anxiety in me. Quitting those things is a big achievement for me but all the glory goes to Lord Jesus Christ really. I am definitely checking things less and worrying less so that is great. If only I could get control of my monkey mind, my thoughts, that is my real big goal that all the others stem from.

You are inspiring too, sis!

Those are huge accomplishments! No caffeine or sugar or nicotine that is so wonderful-how are you feeling as far as your energy levels and your breathing capacity?

I don't have more energy I am just calmer. My anxiety is greatly reduced and I needed that. Also I was having a lot of trouble with irritability. If I don't have voluntary work I stay at home to look after my husband who is chronically ill and handicapped through illness. One of his issues is a short term memory problem and that can be very testing on one's patience! So, I really wanted to get rid of that irritable feeling which always seems so unholy! I can breathe a little deeper from quitting smoking so that is nice. I think caffeine was harder to quit than cigarettes and is a seriously underestimated legal drug, especially in conjunction with sugar!
