Quick Q, maybe the cantors (or clergy) can help?

I'm taking on a new challenge and I've been given a basic outline.
I play the role of Quasimodo in our parish with the new Carillon.

How do I know whether a service is "Res Mode PL 2" or "Res mode 3" ?

Is there a specific designation of the "PL"?
In other words, Is there a "RES Mode 2" and a "Res Mode PL 2" that are different?
I know this information is available, but where is it found?

Additional info: Since being implemented a couple months ago, Father has simply given me the number/program info for me to plug into the Carillon on a post-it before services.
Our priest will be leaving soon and that's being transitioned off. I was given a key, with the corresponding program info matched to the info in my previous post:
iow use Carillon PGM 5462 for RES PL 4.
How do I know when it's RES PL 4?

PL means Plagal..

Pl. 1 is tone 5 in most other languages.
Pl2 is tone 6
Grave (never Plagal 3) is tone 7.
Plagal 4 is Tone 8.

As far as the tone of the week, check the calendar.

they are usually on those Church wall calendars, or if you can get a rubrics book.

Were you not given a wall calendar from your parish.

You could search the Archdiocese's web site.

Since all Orthodox in USA have the same Pascha. If you can't find it on GOA webesite, lookat those of the otherjursdictions, such as theOCA or Antiochians.

I don't think it's on any of our calendars. I get it off AGES digital chant stand ... but then I am just learning this stuff and following along. I wouldn't be able to assemble what's needed for the service myself.

I looked all over the the GOARCH site and never found it.
The wall calendar, otoh, actually has what I was looking for. It's not obvious, and I had overlooked it a couple times. This info is not something I'd needed before.

Thank you and thanks to all for pointing in the right direction.

fwiw/others,
It's not on the day block on the calendar but is in a separate info block
(before July 1, above Sunday the 7th).

I knew what a carillon is. But I have no idea how the bells could be arranged.

We just have one big bell, and ring it when the Doxology begins.
Our Carillon came loaded with pre-arranged sequences. There's a big group of Orthodox hymns, Christos Anesti sounds like the way we sing it (I dk about the key, but the melody is the same). The Hymn of the Church and many others are there plus there's several items that use a single bell. ie Father called one of them "Come to Church."

We've been using it a two points, at the Doxology and again at the conclusion of the service.

Wow that's cool. I'd LOVE to hear Christos Anesti in bells!

Ours is a "come to Church" ... not sure if it sounds exactly like yours. It was an embarrassingly long time (years actually) before I realized we always ring the bells, because I was generally already in Church by then and where I am can't usually hear the bells (either too far forward and/or singing with choir or cantors).

I'm guessing it's the same "Come to Church". Father said it was the same as was played in seminary on a single bell. In 4/4 time it's basically three quarter notes followed by a rest, repeat. Then it changes slightly on the third or fourth iteration.
Christos Anesti sounds great, it's a little slower with the bells.

I had a Parish Council member ask me about turning ours up a bit just this Sunday. You can hear them quite well outside. However, on the inside, with the Doxology being sung you don't hear them. The same thing happens at the end, there's a closing hymn that's chanted. I've considered waiting until it ends before starting the bells - BUT - those who leave directly would never hear them and almost everyone else goes to coffee hour... So start it when about half the congregation is dismissed.

ADDING:
btw thanks for the Ages link DCS... I've been picking up a printed copy of the Orthros from AGES so I can follow and know when it's time for the Doxology. Having the direct link is great.

Yes I actually use the direct link in Church because it has links sometimes to the music (audio files, western and Byzantine notation) and a bit more information in general than the one we print for the people to follow along.

I'm going to check for recordings of the bells. I never knew there was a lot of complexity possible - though I have seen a few times bells done in monasteries. I just never learned anything about it. :)
