  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings,

First post here and all that.

Anyway I've a couple of questions and I'd appreciate your answers / help -

(1) I'm coming out of witchcraft and satanism and trying to find "Jesus" so will you please pray for me? I'm sick of the void that I find inside myself and the terrible emptiness. I was brought up in a christian home and know all about being born-again so it's just a matter of taking a step.

(2) I do an I.T. job and I've a lot of time when I can listen to music "in the background" with my headphones. I have downloaded some mp3's of a bible - if I listen to them even though they are very low and I cannot concentrate on them, will they in some way help me?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to CF! Glad you are here.

I will pray for you. Getting into the word is a huge part of being a Christian. I tell you the first and most important why to become a disciple of Jesus is by learning the bible so that it becomes your heart. Any step in that direction is good. Now, the walk of faith was not meant for to be a lonely path. You are called to be apart of a group of people who are devoted to becoming just like Jesus. To be a disciple is to become just like Jesus. That does not mean you have to turn a switch and all you do and know is Christ...but your development is a progression of small steps that build you up.

I don't know your history of why you went into witchcraft, and you left the church. Further, I don't know why you turned back toward the faith, and I am sure your story is an interesting one. I hope that you can relearn what it means to be a Christian, and find a group of passionate fellowers of Christian that can encourage you to a stronger faith.

There is no 'finding' Jesus, by we sinners. Christ 'found' us at the cross when He died for our sins. Someone who is dead in their sins, can't find God.

What a comfort that Christ has already done it all for us. God Bless your walk with Jesus. Praise Him, that you were brought back to His fold, dear lamb!

Yes, I will pray for you, and yes, it's a great idea to have God's Word coming to you at work.

God is in charge of your heart. He gives you faith in your heart to trust in His Son Jesus as the only way to salvation. Our reasoning cannot fathom this great love.

The seeking we want to do, comes from our Lord. It's His Power, not ours, that makes this happen.
AMEN!!! :holy:

John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:39
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

John 17:24
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

John 17:11
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Abraham waited for 25 years for the promised son. Issac and Rebecca waited 40 years to have children. Moses was in the desert for 40 years, and then 40 more years with Israel following God.

Luke 11:5-13

Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’ And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock, the door will be opened.
"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Romans 8:24-25
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Hebrew 11:1-3
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Welcome to the forums. I get where you are coming from. I too am coming off of Satanism and Wicca and trying to "find" God. I guess many people here are having a hard time knowing what that is. As I have explained in my other post, you can't worship something you don't believe in, you have to believe in him and convicining yourself...it's just...hard if it's not what you where brought up to believe or where your entire life.

Ahhh, but we do understand Jakkaru, because we do believe in Jesus. We know that we cannot by our own reason or strength, come to God.

You cannot convince yourself...let God do the work, that's the way He wants it.

Psalm 55:22 Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you...

that's a great idea to listen to audio bibles. I like the dramatized versions, some are straight reading and it is very monotonous. I hope you can somehow concentrate on bible studies. I recommend daily bible study, even if it is not some days, and more on others, especially New Testament. I have found bible reading to be lacking among many churchgoers, which is sad and shouldn't be that way, people can be easily misled by wolves in sheep's clothing if they don't know the Biblical Jesus.

am praying for you

Jakkaru, start by reading and studying the New Testament. Unfortunately not all churches are very obedient to New Testament, be open to God's ways, not just man's ways, even traditions of churces. Jesus has many warnings for His people, even against church leaders. am praying for you.

yes, and the bible also mentions being a doer. We also put our seeking Him into action, also seeking Him without sins blocking the way. Sins hinder the relationship with God. Jesus will help us replace the bad with good. He not only forgives sin, He helps us stop the sinful habits and sinful ways

A person named Blaise Pascal once had the same problem. Then God explained to him "You would not be seeking me if you had not already found me."

Any good bookstore will have a copy of Blaise Pascal's "Thoughts" (Pensees) He lived a short but brilliant life (died in his early 30s) and was well-known for both his mathematical genius and his Christian devotion. Well worth reading.
