BTW There is more to Revelation 12:17 and 19:10 than Ellen White my friend.
They don.tThe statement I just quoted from the Church official beliefs contradict this statement.
Here it is again.
They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested
I am sorry brother. I most certainly do. I am so much intrenched in it, I believe every aspect of our being, our every breath is a Spiritual Gift. All which is to be used to the edifying of the Body, His Church. No one said there wasn't more dear friend. You did not answer my questions in my previous post but that is ok. Thanks for the brief chat I am out for now.
May God bless you as you seek him through his Word
My grandmother has read all her books along with the Bible, multiple times. I recently bought several EW books and I am looking forward to reading them. I have been so busy right now re-reading the Bible, but once I'm finished a plan to start reading an Ellen White book. Do you have a favorite?I won't do that. I like her and read her often. .
Steps to Christ. Short and sweet, yummy to the palate. Desire of Ages is very desirable also. But alas I would be happy if all would just put their energy into the Holy Writ and prayer. Nothing Beyond that needed accept the direct connection. Without which we would could read the Word to we are blue in the face and it would avail very little. I have both of those books. Started reading Steps to Christ, really liked it but with the limited time I have, ended up putting it down to re-read the Bible. Once I am finished with the Bible I will alternate Steps to Christ with cross-refencing Bible verses. Too much to read not enough time :/ God blessSteps to Christ. Hello HIM,
I am not staying in this thread because too many people take EGW quotes out of their contexts as they do the bible and seek to apply an interpretation to her writings to make it sound that she was saying things she never said. These are all over the web. I will just say do you not believe in the biblical gifts of the Spirit of prophecy? Romans 12:6-10; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Peter 1:21 and other gifts given through the Spirit of God to His Church? In the book of Revelation we see that one of the key signs of God's saints in the last days besides keeping all of God's commandments through faith in Jesus, is that they have a gift in understanding the Prophecies prior to the second coming. Besides keeping all of God's commandments they have the "testimony of Jesus Christ" that the bible defines as the "Spirit of Prophecy" (compare; Revelation 12:17 to Revelation 19:10 look at the testimony of Jesus) see also Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14).
God bless
All those who dream dreams and see visions that are agreed to in the test of the scriptures according to Acts of the Apostles 2:17.Who was Mrs White's "Spirit of Prophecy" successor?
"But she was more than a prolific author. While the world is only now coming to appreciate her deep spiritual and practical insights, Seventh-day Adventists throughout their history have recognized her as a recipient of the true gift of prophecy. They refer to her writings as the Spirit of Prophecy or the Testimonies.
...
But some argue that we should not equate "the testimony of Jesus" or "the spirit of prophecy" with the writings of Ellen White. While indeed we should not think that these terms refer only to Mrs. White and her work, the term "testimony of Jesus" (or "spirit of prophecy") can be used legitimately for all the messages of instruction, encouragement, and correction proclaimed by God's chosen messengers, His prophets. (See relevant verses in Rev 1:2, 9; 6:9; 12:17; 19:10; and 22:16.)
Because the gift of prophecy is an identifying mark of God's end-time remnant church (Rev 12:17) and because we believe that this gift was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White, the Seventh-day Adventist church is justified in referring to her writings as the Spirit of Prophecy or the Testimonies, even as we would to all inspired messages from God.
...
Seventh-day Adventists believe that the writings of Mrs. White, as a genuine manifestation of the Spirit of prophecy, are a precious gift from God, to be cherished and appreciated. These writings, like the Bible, are to help prepare us for heaven. Even now, as they lift our gaze toward things eternal, they give us a foretaste of what God has prepared for those who love Him.
What is the relationship between the Spirit of Prophecy and the Bible?"
Understanding the Spirit of Prophecy: Some Key Questions and Principles
Revelation 19
English: American Standard Version
19 After these things I heard as it were a great voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Hallelujah; Salvation, and glory, and power, belong to our God: 2 for true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great harlot, her that corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3 And a second time they say, Hallelujah. And her smoke goeth up for ever and ever.
4 And the four and twenty elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God that sitteth on the throne, saying, Amen; Hallelujah.
5 And a voice came forth from the throne, saying, Give praise to our God, all ye his servants, ye that fear him, the small and the great.
6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying, Hallelujah: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigneth.
And verse 10 says what when combined with Revelation 12:17?
7 Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright [and] pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they that are bidden to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are true words of God.
10 And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteous he doth judge and make war.
12 And his eyes [are] a flame of fire, and upon his head [are] many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself.
13 And he [is] arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white [and] pure.
15 And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KINGS OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come [and] be gathered together unto the great supper of God; 18 that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit thereon, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, and small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat upon the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his sight, wherewith he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshipped his image: they two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burneth with brimstone: 21 and the rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, [even the sword] which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
Hmm so your point is here? - I am not sure if you made one so just trying to understand your posts.
Why are you interested in the SDA Church or what is your purpose for posting?Informational posts above this of yours. I am posting what official SDA sites say about Mrs White's writings in relation to the Scriptures. In short, just checking the facts.
And Revelation 19:10 defines the "testimony of Jesus" from Revelation 12:17 that God's last day people have as "the Spirit of Prophecy" - they understand the end day events just before Jesus returns
I do not remember what my SDA friends teach about those verses.
Revelation 19:10
[paste:font size="4"]Colossians 2:18).
See thou do it not (ορα μη — hora mē). Repeated in Revelation 22:9. Here there is no verb after μη — mē (ellipse of ποιησηις τουτο — poiēsēis touto) as in Mark 1:44; 1 Thessalonians 5:15), the aorist subjunctive of negative purpose with μη — mē after ορα — hora (present active imperative of οραω — horaō), a common enough idiom.
Fellow-servant (συνδουλος — sundoulos). The angel refuses worship from John on this ground. All Christians are συνδουλοι — sundouloi (fellow-servants) as Christ taught (Matthew 18:28.; Matthew 24:49) and as Paul (Colossians 1:7; Colossians 4:7) and John (Revelation 6:11) taught. Angels are God‘s servants also (Hebrews 1:4-14). For “the testimony of Jesus” see Revelation 1:2, Revelation 1:9; Revelation 6:9; Revelation 12:17; Revelation 22:4.
Worship God (τωι τεωι προσκυνησον — tōi theōi proskunēson). And Christ, who is the Son of God (Revelation 5:13.).
The spirit of prophecy (το πνευμα της προπητειας — to pneuma tēs prophēteias). Explanatory use of γαρ — gar (for) here as in Revelation 19:8. The possession of the prophetic spirit shows itself in witness to Jesus. In illustration see Mark 1:10; Matthew 3:16; Luke 3:21; John 1:51; Revelation 4:1; Revelation 10:1; Revelation 11:19; Revelation 14:17; Revelation 15:5; Revelation 18:1; Revelation 19:1, Revelation 19:7-9.
Revelation 12:17
[paste:font size="4"]Revelation 5:11; Revelation 10:4; Revelation 14:2; Revelation 18:4, but the genitive πωνης λεγουσης — phōnēs legousēs in Revelation 11:12; Revelation 14:13. We are not told whence this voice or song comes, possibly from one of the twenty-four elders (Swete) or some other heavenly beings (Revelation 11:15) who can sympathize with human beings (Revelation 19:10), the martyrs in heaven (Charles).
Now is come (αρτι εγενετο — arti egeneto). Αρτι — Arti (John 13:33) shows how recent the downfall of Satan here proleptically pictured as behind us in time (aorist tense εγενετο — egeneto).
The salvation (η σωτηρια — hē sōtēria). Here “the victory” as in Revelation 7:10; Revelation 19:1.
The power (η δυναμις — hē dunamis). Gods power over the dragon (cf. Revelation 7:12; Revelation 11:17; Revelation 19:1).
The kingdom (η βασιλεια — hē basileia). “The empire of God” as in Revelation 11:15.
The authority of his Christ (η εχουσια του Χριστου αυτου — hē exousia tou Christou autou). Which Christ received from the Father (Matthew 28:18; John 17:2). See Revelation 11:15 (Psalm 2:2) for “his Anointed.”
The accuser (ο κατηγωρ — ho katēgōr). The regular form, κατηγορος — katēgoros occurs in John 8:10; Acts 23:30, Acts 23:35; Acts 25:16, Acts 25:18 and in many MSS. here in Revelation 12:10, but A reads κατηγωρ — katēgōr which Westcott and Hort accept. It was once considered a Greek transliteration of a Hebrew word, but Deissmann (Light, etc., p. 93f.) quotes it from a vernacular magical papyrus of the fourth century a.d. with no sign of Jewish or Christian influence, just as διακων — diakōn appears as a vernacular form of διακονος — diakonos Only here is the word applied to Satan in the N.T. In late Judaism Satan is the accuser, and Michael the defender, of the faithful.
Of our brethren (των αδελπων ημων — tōn adelphōn hēmōn). The saints still on earth battling with Satan and his devices.
Which accuseth them (ο κατηγορων αυτους — ho katēgorōn autous). Articular present active participle of κατηγορεω — katēgoreō old verb, to accuse, usually with the genitive of the person (John 5:45), but here with the accusative. This is the devil‘s constant occupation (Job 1:6.).
Day and night (ημερας και νυκτος — hēmeras kai nuktos). Genitive of time. “By day and by night.”
