  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do evolutionists believe humans evolved from apes?
No, people who understand evolution, understand that we are apes. If you do not understand this answer, then the problem is yours as it is part of the definition of ape and human. If you wish to understand it better, asking us what we believe will not help, rather you will need to study evolution to at least the point where you understand the definition of apes and humans respectively.

I'm talking about humans in relation to animals, not diseases and viruses.

So you want to say we dominate all life on the planet except for microbes? Should I give you a list of just worms and insects we don't dominate then? I could come up with 10 off the top of my head even with that constraint.

But when would you ever find a naked human with no weapons ever coming into contact with an animal such as the one you mentioned? It simply will not happen.

I guess you don't watch the news much. Just a few months ago a guy in Florida got high on drugs and went skinny dipping in a canal where a Alligator ripped his arm off.[/QUOTE]

I snipped your last part because you keep talking about evolution in one breath and then technology which has nothing to do with evolution in the next. Humans spent far less time in recorded history, much less all of history with the technology we have today.

Tell me, we are able to keep bees and harvest their honey, yet their stings can still kill us. Do you consider this domination or a sort of working relationship?

The thread is called questions for evolutionists.

It doesn't have to be all about biology.

Thank you for your answer. You're the first evolutionist who has answered it.

I'm trying to find what other evolutionists believe.

You're acting like there's some sort of social group for people who believe in evolution. What's the point of asking if people who believe in evolution believe in right or wrong? Are you going to ask people who believe in atomic theory if they believe in right or wrong?

The thread is called "Questions for evolutionists".

My point of asking if evolutionists believe in right or wrong? It's for my own curiousity.

I really should emphasize this.

Alot of these questions may seem utterly pointless to you. If they are, then you have the right to not answer them.

Alot of these questions are to find answers for myself.

If I'm making anyone irritated, then please don't answer.

The thread is called "Questions for evolutionists" and sometimes I may get into debate as well as asking quesitons.

Evolutuion is a theory about biology... what else would you want to know from just evolutionists?

Thank you for your answer. You're the first evolutionist who has answered it.

I'm trying to find what other evolutionists believe.

No doubt they will give you a variety of answers... since right and wrong have nothing to do with evolutionary biology, people who accept evolutionary biology are going to be as diverse on that topic as they are on any number of similarly unrelated subjects.

You might as well ask evolutionists what their favorite pizza topping is... my own favorite is sausage and mushrooms.

But we're just wondering what you hope to learn from asking these particular questions...

The definition for dominate is to control, govern, or rule by superior power or authority.

I think this fits perfectly what man's relation is to the rest of the animals on earth.

Yet if we were to dump you in the middle of the Amazon I doubt you'd fare very well.

I'd disagree... if you were to visit the aquarium and accidentally fall into the shark tank, it's a safe bet the sharks would "dominate" you... into bloody red chunks.

Most of the animals on Earth are dominant over us in their own natural environment... the trick is, we've learned over time to change the environment to take away their advantage. But there are limits... it still doesn't do you a whole lot of good if you fall into the shark tank.

But I'm not comparing humans with other animals on a purely physical level. On a purely physical level, we are simply animals. But we humans are much more than bodies. We have an awesome ability to create, control, consume, and destroy.

Most of the animals are not dominant over us in their natural environment. You are assuming if we humans went into their evironment with no clothes, weapons, or machines. This will never happen. The very idea that humans can even put sharks in a tank shows their ability to dominate.

I'll ask this question because I didn't get many answers.

Do evolutionists believe that right and wrong exist?
You do understand that evolutionists include Christians, Born Again Christians, Christians who got it right the first time, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, Muslims, Pastafarians, Wiccans and a whole lot more.

Since most of the above probably belive in right and wrong and I suspect you do to, does that make you an evolutionist?
