  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am really curious to hear what people say about this scenario. Please answer honestly.

I am really curious to read the answers of Born Again Christians in particular. Here is the question:

You are hired by a high school to debate an atheist. This atheist is a well known speaker. She argues against Christianity at schools and clubs. She has swayed hundreds or thousands of people away from Christianity by her arguments and talented way of speaking. You debate her, and find out that twenty people in the audience decide to leave Christianity because of her arguments.

Later, you are sitting waiting for a bus with her. The bus station is deserted. She tells you that her goal in life is to convert Christians away from their faith. She is eating lunch as she talks.

Then, suddenly, she gasps and grabs her throat. She is choking. She can't breathe, and she will be dead in four to five minutes if no one helps her. There is no one around, and the nearest ambulance services is twenty minutes away.

If you let her choke and die, no one will ever blame you, really- you can just say you didn't know what to do. But you can save her life by dong the Heimlich maneuver. However, if you do, there is the chance that she will spend the rest of her life working against God.

What do you do? Do you sit there and let her choke to death, or do you save her?

Save her life. She did not make the choice for the those who decided on their own to leave Christianity. She is not ultimately responsible.

Regardless of how I view her ideals and what not, she has just as much a right to life as I do.

I won't speak for Christians, but if someone were committed to converting Jews away from Judaism and I found them in the same situation, I would save them.

I'd save her. I don't fret about God's business. He doesn't need me...

Altruism, she is going to die if I don't do what I should. Not even a question.

Where would we be if someone had let Paul die because he killed all those Christians.

You kidding? I know how to perform it, and you're darn straight I'd do it. I couldn't care less if it was Hitler. No one deserves to be judged by me to live or die. No one.

I would do my best to try and save her. I would hope no one would let someone die just because of what they believe. Wait, is this like one of those forwarded e-mails where you answer a question, scroll to the bottom and it says something like, "you just chose to have Beethoven aborted"?

Of course you save her.

Everyone has a personal choice on whether they will believe in God or not, and to deny God because of what an atheist says is merely proof that you do not have Faith.

Everyone who has converted and everyone who will convert in the future deserve what comes to them for leaving the Faith as it was their choice.

We have free will and I encourage skeptics to criticize Christianity.

People who are strong Christians do not get deconverted, and people who do not put effort forth to become strong Christians ought to rather call themselves atheists anyways.

I'd rather Christianity got rid of our hypocrites - I encourage people to deconvert weak Christians who do not bother to read the Bible.

I'd like to put out as a note: I have never found an atheist argument after age 15 that I found 'surprising!' or 'shocking!' or 'eye opening!'

You'd have to be ignorant or youthful to be persuaded by atheism away from Christianity.

I do whatever I can to save her. She might be like a Paul. This is so simple. It is the second greatest command. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. And you do that because you love Jesus FIRST.

It does not matter what the person did, just as it does not matter to Christ what we did.

Save the life just as Christ has saved our lives. And by His grace and mercy, the choking atheist just may come to know Him.

Either way He will be glorified. How can it be anything but a testament to the indwelling of HIM and HIS LOVE that someone would choose to love and save the life of one who hates and dishonors the One who saved them

KILL HER!!!!!!!!

JUST KIDDING

save her!!!!

God knows who will be saved and who won't be it is all in his plan. she is also an important piece of his master plan, whether she knows it or not. I am glad that there is a group of people that attacks Christianity and I can see why God allows that. It prevents a lot of people from being lukewarm Christians, or being "Christians" by name only.

Satan loves to print counterfeit Christians in order to inflate the spiritual economy and make the Christianity look less valuable. No real Christian can ever be deconverted so that atheist woman has effectively taken some counterfeits out of Christianity and concentrated us Christians into a more potent substance.

I don't agree with the atheist message at all, and I believe there are many that are called to go and counter that message with the truth. however no matter who wins the debate it is part of Gods plan to shape his people by grows or pruning and in essence God wins every debate.

Would y'all punch her in the face afterwards?
"Hey, I know I just saved your life and all, but I really think you deserve this nice punch in the face. You know. For your lifestyle. I love playing God, you know."

Come on, really?
