Tinkerbell, I don't consider myself either a Progressive or a Traditionalist. Although, I do resonate with the Progressive side, because I am open-minded and willing to progress in my faith and make changes when necessary. I do not believe our church has all the truth nor do I believe we have 'arrived' in the sense that some of our doctrine does not need to be re-examined and re-considered. I believe our Christian/Adventist journey should be dynamic and ever-changing, not stagnant and preserved in formaldehyde since the 1800's.

I am an Evangelical Adventist. Again, you can consult this list if you want to know more details about what I believe:

Although there are some theological areas where I differ from the Traditionalists, most of the areas I differ on are personal lifestyle issues. For example, I do attend movies at the theater, I do listen to Techno, Pop, Rock and Heavy Metal and attend rock concerts, I am not vegetarian, I do drink caffeinated pop, I love contemporary worship, I wear a wedding ring and I have no issues with wine, jewelry or dancing. Most Traditionalists would frown on some or all of the above.

Also, many here despise labels, so they might not warm up to this sort of question being asked. I, however, think labels are helpful and necessary, as my wonderfully constructed list clearly demonstrates!

Hope this helps!

This split reflect what is wrong with religion. The normal principle is that what humans study is influenced by what they believe they are -- their sense of identity. This means that what we study will change as our sense of identity changes. We only studied flight when we became convinced that we were able to fly. In religion what we study is fixed by our sense of identity. Unlike life, which is dynamic, religion is static.
