Question about SDA

Well now, if we're going to break out the Ellen White quotes.......................(I'm just kidding).

Gabriele, I know I speak on behalf of Honor, Sassy, PaleHorse and myself when I say that we have had more discussions about the feasts in Yahoo chat than any other subject. Unfortunately, it always seemed to get ugly because those that keep them will never see our point of view and vice versa. This isn't the time or the place anyway, this is a non-debate area.

If you'd like to open a thread about it in the debate rooms, I'm sure many people will come, I just can't promise I'll be one of them. I studied this out, prayed about it, studied some more....I have a very dear friend that keeps the feasts and I respect and admire him more than I can say with words, and even he and I cannot agree on this subject. It is my personal belief that we are no longer required to keep the feasts and that those sabbaths and festivals pointed to the Messiah.

Galatians 3:19 - Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Obviously this verse is not referring to the Ten Commandments.

I know what you're getting at with the whole tithe question, and let me just say that tithing was in effect long before Moses. Genesis 28:22 - And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

I think Sassy may be a little too generic by just saying "Moses Law". I believe that Christ stated all must be fulfilled within that law which concerned Him specifically. The ceremonial part of the law; the sacrifices, feasts, etc. are what were nailed to the cross. Christ is the light that lights the whole world, the firstfruits, the Lamb of God, etc.

Luke 22:37 - For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

Luke 24:44 - And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

When involved in this particular discussion one has to be so specific because it's quite possible that others may think you also mean we should still stone our neighbors for various offenses, etc. Some laws have changed, we all know it. The key is figuring out which ones.

Regardless, I have absolutely no desire to debate this subject any more than I have for the past two years of my life. No offense, I have seriously had my fill of it.

If you are interested in what Ellen White has to say about the feasts and how they were all about Christ, Desire of Ages is an excellent book. Chapter 49 is especially helpful. I believe that's the chapter where she discussed how Christ didn't go to the feasts and when He did show up for the Feast of Tabernacles it was to announce that HE was the light of the world.

Did you answer my question about the Messianic stance on the state of the dead? You might have, but I missed it (I'll read through the whole thread). All I know is that the friends I have that are Messianic definitely believe we sleep in the grave after death, until the resurrection. I am curious if it's up to each individual what they believe on that subject?

Blessings,
~Lainie

I was "generic", I admit that. That is a study that is very lengthy, and I have found that most people have their minds made up...the ones who keep the feasts can't see why they shouldn't, and no matter how much scripture you show them, they are STILL going to keep them.

As you stated sista, I'm tired of it. I just can't beat this dead horse any longer. Especially since she isn't SDA, we aren't supposed to have to debate about things anyway.
