yes I am adventist (baptized at 9), as were my parents, and their parents (on my father's side), and their parents (paternal great grandmother), who knew egw and kellogg and other pioneers... My great grandmother was Lottie C. Blake who was a medical missionary doctor, the 1st black adventist woman to be a medical missionary doctor. Kellogg helped finance some of her education so its told... I went through adventist grade school, academy and college. In fact studied religion/theology in college. So yes, I am more adventist than many can "boast." As an adventist I have earned the right to ask any question I want regarding adventism...

sure you can, though I didn't take it... sorry if my response caused you to think I was snapping at you.... still trying to understand how asking a few questions makes people think that somehow I am not an adventist...

Stormy, come on, asking questions on here is encouraged. Disagreeing with fundamental beliefs....well that's forbidden without the Adventist icon (I know, I know, I'm a broken record).
Maybe its encouraged and maybe its not.... as for the icon, at this point it is a control issue. I have indicated that I am adventist, however you (and others) want the icon displayed... I have the icon I want, and choose not to conform.... That being the case, there is nothing more to do.... I won't get into some rules making no sense, that's another thread.... anyway... i will be here...

i still dont see how you can claim to be an adventist and disagree or debate our fundamental beliefs. if one does that, i sincerely question there belief in the Adventist church. I would think they may be an offshoot of the church, Like Branch Dividian, Shepherds Rod, etc. And if that is the case, they shouldnt call themselves Adventist because they are not.

So once again, if someone claims to be an adventist and has a problem with everything our church stands for, things we have been talking about in this sda forum and all of our threads, and argues, debates, whatever you want to call it, I truly believe that they are NOT adventists, because they dont believe in the belief system that holds that true.

I am not aiming this at anyone, just a general, blanket assessment of how I see things.

Thank you for your response. Its simple, the same way you call yourself a U.S. citizen but don't agree with everything that the U.S. does or has done. Yet no one tells us that we must surrender our citizenship when we don't agree with or speak out against what our government is doing.....

Basically because I have not come agreeing with the party line you have judged me. That's fine. I am still an adventist..... and that is how I see things at the moment...

I couldn't agree more. It makes absolutely no sense to me to stay in a church, call yourself an Adventist, a Lutheran, whathaveyou, and not agree with the basic doctrine/beliefs of that particular church.

If I find things questionable about my faith, and I can't reconcile those questions, I will leave, and I will do so quietly. I have never seen the reason for the ones that I know to be X SDA to publicize that they USED to be SDA and this is why they aren't. NOT that that is what stormy is doing. Still, when one sees someone who is adventist stating contrary belief to our doctrine...it does cause one to wonder.

It doesn't help, also, that we are all used to the "bashers", and unfortunately stormy, they will stop at nothing to weasel their way in to wherever they have to to get "at" us. I have seen it all.

This is not a negative post against you stormy, not at all. It was an attempt to explain what hostility you may have felt. You also came in, in the middle of a problem we were having, and I can understand where you may have thought we were talking about you...but we really weren't.

Blessings to all

Please let us know when you get you're head back. I will be sick with worry until I know you are ok! I hate it when that happens!

I see what you are saying here, Happy, but here is a quote I would like to share with the forum. It is from Richard Rice:

A careful review of the church's history reveals that searching for truth is just as important to Adventists as defending the truth. Accordingly, religion teachers must do more than understand and articulate the Church's doctrinal positions. They must constantly seek a deeper understanding of truth and more effective ways of expressing it. From time to time this will involve raising questions about time-honored positions, and this can be disturbing to some in the Church. But without this openness to truth, this willingness to reconsider past positions and make important changes, Seventh-day Adventists would never have revised their understanding of the shut door, embraced the message of righteousness by faith, affirmed the full divinity of Jesus Christ, or developed a trinitarian understanding of God. In other words, Seventh-day Adventist doctrine wouldnever have become fully Christian. As Ellen White insists, "The truth is an advancing truth, and we must walk in the increasing light." [1] "The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can aford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation." [2]

[1] Ellen G. White, Counsels to Writers and Editors (Mountain View: Pacific Press, 1948), 33.
[2]Ibid., 35.

nixx...i like your post thank you. i agree with it. :amen: but the things that people have been stating to question or challenge our beliefs, i havent seen any convincing arguements of scriptures from them. i still see our "historic" beliefs as still right on. :)

Hi all. God Bless. I also wrap it up like this, What does the Bible teach and Would Jesus do this? If we say no to these questions then, we shouldn't be doing it either.

I am not a Judge only God Is The Judge. And I do believe all All the Beliefs the SDA teach because they are all Bible facts.

Anyone can take a few bible verses and move them around to fit there life styles. But I stand firm with Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father
Please Help in the words we use that they be your words not are own, we affend when we use are own words Lord so I ask you Lord for your words to guide all your people and bring to a unity that will bring the body of Christ as 1 to Worship You. The way it Pleases you. Let all the don't know you learn about you and let our love shine richly so they can see it. Oh God I thank thee for showing me the way to you, and I really pray for all that don't know you Lord. I don't want to see and lost. I know this is not a fight against flesh and blood, I know this is your battle Lord and you already have victory. Praise you father for all you have done for us and your love letter to us. Thanks again God for forgiving for my sins and leading me back to you and healing me. You are My All In All.

In Jesus Name I Pray.
