I really do not knnow if I have the right area for this question. If I don't please correct me.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books, webpages, or resources about the religion of Islam. I have some of the members of my church wanting to know and I really do not know much about the religion.

If you do a search on Islam many web pages will turn up. However, you need to be aware of the perspective from which they are written--as with information about any religion. Some sites try to get you to join the religion; others tell you only what is wrong with it. Try searching in an online encyclopedia.

If you want some good literature, try the Ahmadiyya Lahore at www.aaiil.org

Although some Muslims consider the Ahmadiyya "un-orthodox"you will get a lot of very good information here. They even sent me a Qu'ran, and numerous books on Islam. They are a great resource, and I have many friends who are members of the Ahmadiyya sect.

An inexpensive book by a man raised as a Muslim called "Islam Reviewed" is well worth purchasing at Amazon books. It's author's name is disguised, as it is dangerous to speak up and convert away from the Islamic faith. He therefore uses the the pseudoname M. Ali.
It basically and concisely gives all the differences and Koran scriptures that Christians and Muslims should take a look at, of course, in my opinion.

I do know they believe in Jesus. As a prophet and not divine, though. They believe that Mary gave birth to him outside while leaning against a tree and that he came out talking.

I also am pretty sure that the Qoran teaches that if you cannot convert someone it would be better for that person if you killed them. My wife has read the whole thing and whenever she ran across stuff like that she would stop and tell me about it. Aside from that I know very little about their beliefs.

When I lived out in Caifornia I worked in a resturant that was mainly staffed by middle-easterners, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, etc... most all of them came here and waited and bussed tables in this resturant and went to college during the day. The one really weird thing that I remember that they were quite serious about, was their ideas about men and women with regards to sex and love. Every single one there practiced homosexuality. They blatantly told me that women were for having babies and that men were for love. Their marriages seemed to be simply for perpetuation of children with no emotional attachment to their wives. Men on the other hand they felt should be used for deep emotional and sexually satisfying relationships. I was constantly propositioned by these men and they did not consider them selves homo/bi-sexuals. ??????
