Genesis 3:22 And Jehovah God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever-

    Hello,
So my question might sound a bit dumb but here it is : Since Adam and Eve didn't know about good and evil before eating from the tree of knowledge, does that mean they used to sin without realizing it ?

    Thank you for the response.

I don't think so. Sin is (basically) doing something outside of God's will. A & E lived within God's will until they ate from the tree that God told them not to. Since then it's been all downhill.

You have the wrong verse there. Genesis 2:22 is in fact: Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

And what you have is Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

In context it shows that this verse is after they have eaten the fruit. Before that they neither knew good and evil nor sinned. Eating the forbidden fruit was the first, original sin.
    The Expulsion from Paradise
21The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. 22Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- 23therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken.…

They knew that they had instruction to follow and that there were consequences to disobedience.

Until they actually disobeyed Gods clear command not to eat of the fruit of the tree, they had not sinned.

Sin is disobedience to god and/or his commands.

Sin is an offense against God and there is no indication they were anything but innocent before they broke the only law in the garden, don't eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They were innocent, that is not to say they were righteous.

My bad, i indeed put the wrong number of verse.

I see... So Adam and Eve never sinned before and their first sin was to disobbey God, since they didn't knew good nor evil nor sin before eating from the tree.

Thank you all for your responses.

Where there is no law, sin is not imputed. So whatever Adam and Eve may have done before the Fall, they were accounted as innocent.

But since they were made in the image of God, and since the world around them was perfect, without any corrupting influence until the day satan made his appearance, I think it is reasonable to conclude that though they probably had a learning curve in finding out how things worked and how they should interact with the world, they had no proclivity to evil.

They could do anything but eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
So until they did that they didn't sin, but if they did things that are sin now no one knows.

We today would consider it a sin to change what God said. But, there was no law saying that they could not change what God said.
    God said,
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
    Eve said,
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

The Tree of Life was in the MIDST of the garden.

    H8432
    Hebrew:
    תּוך
    Transliteration:
    tâvek
    Pronunciation:
    taw'-vek
    Definition:
From an unused root meaning to sever; a {bisection} that {is} (by implication)
    the centre: - among ({-st}) X {between} {half} X ({there-} where-) in ({-to}) {middle} mid {[-night]} midst ({among}) X out ({of}) X {through} X with (-in).

She exalted the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
She also added that they were not to touch it.

Not quite understanding what you are mentioning.

In the Midst doesn't have to mean next to each other, one tree could of been all the way across on the other side of the garden yet still in the midst of the garden.

Without the knowledge of good and evil, sin is not possible but it is certainly possible to be disobedient.

You are going by a English definition of the word "midst". That is why I supplied the Hebrew definition of tavek which is translated into midst. And tavek means center or bisection.
Also if what you say is true, God would have just said both trees were in the garden.
He would not have used the word tavek.

Hebrew words have multible meanings depending on context, that word can be used to say, among,in, etc. even if the tree was next to the other what does that have to do with God saying don't eat from that tree.

I didn't say it did have anything to do with eating from the tree.
Eve added to the command saying she was not to touch it.

Adam told Eve about that IMO, I don't see how Eve was adding to the command not to eat from it, unless you are saying it was ok for her to eat for it, or God meant for Adam and not Eve also, but then again Eve wasn't even formed yet when God told Adam not to eat, it could be just as likely that God told Adam to tell Eve that God said not to eat from the tree then that would be a measure of faith on Eve' part to believe Adam in what God said, that seems highly likely seeming that God does that from time to time.

could you explain alittle more about Eve added to the command.

Whether Adam told Eve not to TOUCH the tree or whether Eve added that she was not to TOUCH it, God didn't say they couldn't TOUCH the tree. That is adding to Gods Word.

Are you still quoting Genesis 3:22 that verse isn't even talking about the tree of knowledge but the tree of life thus least put his hand forward and pick from the tree of life, once they eat from the tree of knowledge, the tree of life was cut off from their access to it.

Of the tree of knowledge Eve gave Adam the friut, Eve was the one who picked to friut

I don't see in that verse about Eve adding anything, I'm still not quite understanding what you mean with all that.
