  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what do you mean by the 'high sabbath'

Jews celebrated more Sabbaths than just the weekly Sabbath. They had a number of feast days that were "High Sabbaths," or high days. He arose on the first day of the week after the Sabbaths (plural). Sometime after 6 p.m. Saturday, end of the Jewish day, in Matthew 28:1 we read; "In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre."

The Jews observed several "high" Sabbaths ("holy convocations") in their seasons. Leviticus 23:3-6; "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread."

The first Jewish month (Nisan or Abib) is our April. The Feast of the Passover (a high Sabbath) and the Feast of the Unleavened Bread (another high Sabbath) were celebrated on April 14th and 15th respectively.

The day Jesus died was the preparation day (Wednesday) of the Passover celebration on Thursday (John 19:14, 31: "And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he (meaning Pilate) saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!" This was the morning of the crucifixion day. Verse 31 states, "The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away."
Therefore, Passover (Nisan 14) was on Thursday, that year, the Feast of Unleavened Bread began on Friday (seven day feast last to Nisan 21), and the regular weekday Sabbath was on Saturday. Jesus was crucified in the morning on Wednesday and placed in the tomb before 6 P.M. He arose from the grave sometime after 6 P.M. on Saturday, which would be early Sunday morning, the first day of the week, according to Jewish time-keeping. This explanation fits Jesus' prophecy in Matthew 12:40 that He would be "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

The above are not my words exactly as I would have used Yahshua's name

Mar 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

So this means somewhere between sundown on Saturday and sundown on Sunday, and does early the first day mean at sunrise on Sunday?

Was Jesus's name actually Yeshua or not?
I use Yahshua because I am an Israelite showing to the world the Gospel of the God of Israel. So, if I'm going to teach about the God of Israel, then I prefer to call him by the name that he was called when he came to earth in the flesh.

Many people recognize "Jesus" but many people do not recognize that in English or Hebrew, the name "Jesus" did not exist until the 1600's and Yahshua was the name that Miriam (Mary) received from Gabri-el, at the commandment of Yah, to name her son,... AND,... the name that the apostles preached in. This is a FACT whether we want to accept it or not.
Who changed it to Jesus?
There are various studies that exist which really explore the reasoning behind the Greeks changing of the Hebrew names. Many of these studies can be found on the internet. The language barrier was NOT the issue in the Greeks changing of the Hebrew names. If it was, then everyone that speaks English would know Him as "Joshua," an English translation of Yahshua meaning "Yah is Salvation."
I thought people used Lord in replace of Yahweh because the name is sacred?
Psalm 68:4

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. (*NOTE: Because there was no letter "J" until centuries AFTER Yahshua reserruted we know that the "J" should have been a "Y". This is some of where man had "added or took from the bible as Yahweh FORBIDS them to do) This is not the only place in the bible we are commanded to use His name....it is there OVER and OVER again.[/quote]

Maybe the above will enlighten you.

Yes....but REMEMBER....He had already left the tomb by then....The bible doesn't say that He arose at sunrise.

Wednesday crucifixion myth settled by scripture

Besides the fact that Wednesday does not complete the requirement for the unblemished Lamb to be examined for four days, there is the clear indication in Luke 24 what day Christ was crucified.

Luke 24:1 The day of the week is identified- First Day, aka Lord's Day, in common parlance, Sunday.

Luke 24:13 two of them went "that same day " (Sunday to Emmaus

Luke 24:20 Cleopas is explaining to the 'stranger' (he does not realize that it is the Lord) about the crucifixion. He is confused that Jesus died so, as he expresses below

Luke 24:21
"But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. "

Today is the third day since these things were done. Ok, let's count backwards:
Third day- Sunday
Second day- Sabbath (Saturday)
First day- paraskevi (Friday)

Your witness.

Regarding the dispute as to what name to properly use when referring to Jesus the Christ

Jesus was never called Y'shua. He might have been called
hs362.gif
hs345.gif
hs371.gif
hs351.gif
, or more likely yeh-hah shua, but that is not Y'shua. If we're going to get bent out of shape about transliterations, then it should not be done at all- for a nearer approximation is simply an approximation.

Jesus is the Anglicised rendition of Iesous, which predates the 1600's by, well, 1600 years :)

Stop there. What is being said here is that the scriptures that we have are altered and corrupted. The Greek name translated to English Jesus can be found in manuscripts dating to the early second century. If, in fact, those awful Greek Gentiles changed the sacred name of (fill in guess as to Hebrew name), then who knows what else they changed? Perhaps there were no miracles, or Jesus died in His sleep.

The foundation of our faith is a Person, not letters on a page.

According to Paul, "Christ is our passover lamb." (1 Cor 5:7)

The Disciples ate passover with Jesus; they ate Jesus' body and blood ("Take and eat, this is my body"). Jesus IS the Passover Lamb. Passover occured on Thursday night, so the Last Supper happened on Thursday night, the Crucifixion happened on Friday.

It isn't. The Greek god is "Zous". Different letters involved.

Had he died on "Good Friday" (That is a stupid term in my opinion anyway)

We call it "Good" Friday because the crucififixion, horrible as it was, was the very thing that gained us our salvation. Hence, a good thing.

They don't. Iesou is not the name of a Greek god. Neither is Jesus.

Please feel to advance the absurd theory that
Iesous
iota-eta-sigma-omicron-upsilon-sigma

became
ye-zeus
gamma-(??)-zeta-omicron upsilon-sigma

That is as plausible as the word theory coming from the word story.

In other words, not.

Be well.

ERROR # 5
THE NAME JESUS ETYMOLOGICALLY
DERIVES FROM THE NAME ZEUS.

A long held and regularly used false teaching among more than half of Sacred Name Movement assemblies and individuals is that the Greek word for Jesus means son of Zeus or has a meaning otherwise connected with or derived from the word Zeus. There are a number of variations on this fanciful teaching, a favorite being that Jesus means Healing Zeus.
It is especially sad to see Sacred Name converts, who have no idea of the source of their information, promoting this error.
In spite of the fact that the teaching cannot be backed by research, many in the movement believe it simply has to be true.
The teaching is purely and simply a lie, a fabrication. This falsehood began in the teachings of some of the pioneer preachers of the movement. It continues among preachers and teachers who are movers and shakers in the movement today.
This doctrine and its continued propagation epitomize other false teachings of the Sacred Name Movement. Even after it has time and again been proven false, many still cling to it.

It was Yahweh’s responsibility to inspire His Scripture. It’s man’s responsibility to preserve it, to know it and to share it. We are not doing our job very well. For example, there was no J in Hebrew or Greek so Yahshua’s name could not have been Jesus. The first J was invented in the 16th century. The name Jesus was first used in 1629. The closest name to it at the time was Gesus—the name of a druid demon called the Horned One.

The NT was written in Greek. The Greek alphabet doesn’t have a Y or the SH sound of Yahshua. Further the A sound at the end of his name conflicts with Greek grammar. So the NT writers did their best to transliterate it with the following sounds: EE AY SU. The initial letter was the Greek equivalent of our I. When the Anglo Saxons and the Germanic tribes developed their written languages twelve centuries later, they didn’t like the Greek or Latin words that started with an I. So they gave the I a tail and it became a J. Further, one of the five declinations of the Greek transliteration ended with an S to be consistent with Greek grammar rules. Unfortunately, the translators of the KJV choose that one in 1611. So there you have it.

BTW, the first KJV did not contain "Jesus".( it also said Thou SHALL commit adultery". I was lucky enough recently to see it with my own eyes.

Wrong. Easter is Pagan and has 100% of it's roots in Babylon and thus Satanic. It has to do with the Sun crossing the vernal equinox and impregnating mother earth. Nine months later the rebirth of the sun god-Christmas.
These have zero to do with Yahweh, the God who inspired the book we call the Bible. Had we not replaced His annual meetings with pagan ones, we would know that He was offered up in our stead on Passover. His soul went to be afflicted in sheol(hell) to remove our sin on the Miqra of Unleavened bread-symbolic of the removal of sin. He was taken up(not descended) on the Miqra of Firstfruits(the wave offering was the first saints resurrected spoken of in all 4 gospels). Fifty days later on the Miqra of weeks(Pentecost) the spirit came to the followers. Because we are mostly ignorant of His word(we don't even know His name even though He told us 7000 times) we think Christmas and Easter are affiliated with Yahweh. We claim that palm Sunday is when Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, yet that would make it 5 days before the passover when regulations outlined in Leviticus says 4. It calls for the perfect lamb to arrive 4 days before Passover. Yahshua arrived right on time, not Sunday. The answer to your question is Easter has nothing to do with God. It is Pagan and an abomination to Him.

Give it a rest. You are really not worth responding to. I hope I am speaking for all us Christians, but days like Christmas and Easter to us, celebrate incredibly important events of the life of Jesus. It is not important that we have the exact days involved as long as the days we set aside for these celebrations are remembered for what they are. I hear many people say that Jesus was not born on Dec. 25, I say so what. That is when we celebrate it. We know what events occured, the exact timing is not critically important, I don't think.

I'm sure there are more important issues facing us today than how languages and names in them develop over time. Yes, guess what, most of us don't speak Aramaic nowadays! I'm going to go with the name that flows the best in the language that I happen to be speaking, whether it's Isus, Jesus, or Jesu (yay-su).

"it", being the truth. How sad, that facts are a hurdle for most people. We want everything we have been told so bad to be true, facts become an obstacle.

You are really not worth responding to.

But you had to anyway. Too bad you din't refute the facts and only offered up a personal attack. And BTW, my "worth" is enough to die for, so says God.

I hope I am speaking for all us Christians,

Sadly, you do

but days like Christmas and Easter to us, celebrate incredibly important events of the life of Jesus.

Ah, no they don't. You can claim they do, but nothing about them is scriptural, and they have zero to do with Yahweh. We are all free to chosse- Him or man.

It is not important that we have the exact days involved

Just listen to yourself

as long as the days we set aside for these celebrations are remembered for what they are.

"we set aside"

I hear many people say that Jesus was not born on Dec. 25, I say so what. That is when we celebrate it. We know what events occured

Do we?
