• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Millions of people having small details wrong is not on par with “Having millions of witnesses” for something, it’s not on par with the claim that 90 witnesses saw Mike Tyson punch a guy out in a nightclub…rather it’s on par with those 90 witnesses being inconsistent about whether Tyson was wearing a belt or not when he did it. Or the difference between 20 people witnessing a certain person robbing a store vs those 20 people inconsistently describing the guy’s sneakers.

You are overselling the “Millions of people” angle with regards to the Mandela Effect, the Mandela Effect is always precisely those little details that independent witnesses DO scramble up, as opposed to how witnesses are very consistent with the basic main facts. This is why Mandela Effect is always about inconsequential things like a punctuation mark missing or “I could have sworn the bottom piece of Japan zigged instead of zagged, as opposed to something like “Tom Brady was really a baseball player.”

Here’s something else to think about, how many Mandela Effects can you name? IF reality was really in constant flux there would easily be tens of thousands of them, and actually that would be a low number. Just think about how many things in reality would be Mandela Effects if the ground of reality itself was really moving all over the place like the Mandela Effect suggests! You need to juxtapose the enormous number of Mandela Effects that would exist if the theory is true with the extremely humble amount that are always talked about. It would be endless! If the theory was consistent you’d be able to name at least 25 Mandela Effects just in your living room alone right now.

they're often accurate and reliable
They can be, but it's hard to tell. When they contradict established, evidenced, recorded history, they're almost certainly mistaken, and sometimes one can see how the error probably occurred (as I pointed out with a number of commonly mistaken memories earlier in the thread).

People report personal examples.

I have a few…

The implication? It's endless…

Of course each individual person will have personalized examples. I would hardly expect millions of people to share in a false detail that I remember about my 5th grade science teacher.

“… when I do not know, neither do I think I know; so I am likely to be wiser”
― Socrates
You saying that people have personal examples goes without saying, of course they do since people have their own individual personal lives and false memories are a human phenomena. That doesn’t have anything to do with Socrates being famous for throwing epistemological riddles at people, stay focused!

I look forward to the day when you present a real argument.

If with Alzheimer's…

There are lots of things that cause our memory to be unreliable. There is a huge amount of evidence to support this, as you have been shown many times already. Perhaps you don't remember it.
