• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know, right at this time, Court, you need looking after, a little time to yourself, at least, more than Andrew needs not to miss any schooling. That will be one of the least of his problems by the sound of things!

Thank you Paul and rowantree! You are angels! I just woke up and FINALLY got a good night's sleep. We had a big thunderstorm last night and I slept through it, which they normally wake me. Andrew got some good sleep too but is still too sick to go to school. Poor baby just can't stop coughing to the point where he is gagging. At least I think the fever is gone though. I believe he will be going back to school tomorrow.

Today I am praying I can get caught up on laundry that has escaped me and that I won't be a mental mess. I am praying I will be a kind, patient, loving Mama and that we will make it through.

Thanks again for your kindness and prayers!

Why, you MEAN mother!!! Andrew just told me. But seriously, Court. Terrific news that you finally got a good night's sleep. 'See, I will not forget you; I have carved you in the palm of my hand.'

Court, what GREAT news that you got some sleep. I am soooo pleased. Poor Andrew. But he has a VERY good Mommy. I am so full of admiration for you Court. Not sure I could have done what you have done. So kudos to you. I pray that your own needs can be attended to very very soon, and also that the depression eases. I pray for you to be able to continue to cope with what life is throwing at you at this moment.

How are you feeling yourself regarding the depression and withdrawal from your drugs? Praying that the symptoms are getting less and less.

God bless you Court. He loves you SOOOO much. And God bless dear little Andrew. Praying he gets better real soon. xx

Lol Paul...I know I am sooooooo MEAN! It just hurts my heart to hear him say that! He is in much better spirits this morning and we have spent a good amount of time cuddling on the couch and playing, "I Spy". I just love this little guy so much!

Thanks rowantree. You are such an encouragement! I think my depression and withdrawl are getting a bit better. I just really, "numbed out" these past few days. I just wish the agitation in my body would lessen. I just can't seem to sit still. I am taking Ativan and drinking Camomile (spelling?) tea but so far all it does is make me sleepy with the agitation still there.

I've been so self-absorbed I haven't asked how you guys are doing? I pray you are doing well!

I'm so glad you managed to get some sleep, Court - it makes so much difference doesn't it.
You know, kids always say things like that to their parents - if we weren't ever 'mean' in their opinion then we wouldn't be raising them very well! The fact that he feels safe saying that to you means that he's very secure in your love - which just shows what a great mom you are!
Praying for you both, sweetie.

Are you eating enough, Court? Sometimes it can have a calming - anchoring(!) - effect on the body, especially if you're praying a lot. I hope everyone here manages to buy organic food, too, though it's likely to be more expensive, as it is here. But GM food is labelled here, so at least we can avoid them, and the hormone polluted milk.

Thanks Criada! Isn't that the truth that kids that are able to express themselves to their parents are secure in their love! Thanks for the reminder. I know I never would have been able to say that to my parents as a kid! Thanks for the prayers!

Paul- I am eating...just not the right things. With Andrew being sick and me being depressed the farthest I've gone to get food for the house is the local chain store which really has nothing but packaged foods. I know for our sake we need to be eating healthier. That means me arranging a delivery from the nearest city (I still can't drive very far and we are in a remote area) which I usually do but haven't. Both Andrew and I are very sensitive to what we eat (no sugar or gluten, etc.) but as of late it's been hard.

That's pretty much an answer I expected, Court. It will be good when you get a bit of time to get back in the normal swing of things. But I should have been more specific. A full stomach, not over-full, but full, I think will help with the twitching, if only marginally.

Hi Court. I would endorse what Paul has said, but I know only too well how hard it can be to get to a decent store that does more than packaged foods. My husband is disabled, and sick, and often it is just so hard to get to a decent store. We end up with all sorts of junk, but are trying to eat more healthily. So I can relate to what you say about not being able to get more than packaged food. It must be hard when you are both senstive to what you eat. Don't they just put so much junk into our food these days!!!

Am praying still, for you and for Andrew. Yay - he has such a GOOD mom. The love you have for him shines out of you when you write, Court. It is so lovely to read.

God bless the both of you, and we will always be here for you.

Sending love and hugs to the both of you.

Paul- I can't wait to get back in the swing of things....I don't do well with disarray!

rowantree-They do put too much junk in our food these days! When I am feeling well I am pretty good about feeding my family healthy foods. It really has upset me that this year at my son's school he has had exposure to: candy, fruit roll-ups, msg covered cheese popcorn and the list goes on...Now he WANTS junk food. It really, really upsets me, but that is a battle for a different day.

I am so sorry to hear your husband is disabled and sick. That has to be so difficult. I will pray for you both.

Thanks for saying I am a good Mom. It is truly what I aspire to be. He deserves the best and he deserves all the love in the world. He is a great, precious boy!

Well, here's to hoping the night-shift goes well: dinner, a little time for Andrew with Daddy (If Daddy is feeling up to it), bath and bed-time. Praying that Andrew will fall asleep quickly and easily tonight and sleep through the night.

Praying my friends here get some good rest to. God bless all of you. You are really helping me through a rough patch!

Hi Court. Hope that you had a good night's rest. Also hoping that precious Andrew is feeling a little better. It's scary when they get so sick isn't it?

yeah, junk food LOL. I am sick of what they put into our food. And for so long, we were not even aware of it. And I am sorry to hear about Andrew and school and what they give him there. It is just too too bad. I pray that when this is all over you can get that all sorted out once and for all with the school.

Thankyou for your prayers for us Court. We are O.K. though and managing. We don't always manage to eat healthily though and I tend to just grab something - ANYTHING to fill a hole LOL. I must try to get organised LOL

You are more than welcome to our support and help Court. My heart went right out to you when I read your first posting, and continued to do so as I read of your struggle. I felt for you so much. We will be here for you as long as you want us to be. And after that as well. Any time !

You truly ARE a great mom. Some moms would have given in to their own feelings at such a difficult time, but you have cared all of the time just about Andrew. Bless his little soul. You are amzing - and I bet he is too.

I hope that he got some quality time with his Dad last night.

Will go on thinking of you and praying for you. This will pass Court. You will be OK. Hang on in there. We are all rooting for you.

God bless you. xx

Thanks so much you guys! Today is rough. Andrew is still home sick and he is in a very foul mood. I did get him an antibiotic this morning and I'm praying it will help. I am just miserable right now and think I may be catching whatever it is he has.

Court, I am so sorry you think you might have caught whatever Andrew has. It couldn't be tougher for you could it. I am sorry you are so miserable but totally understand it. I am praying still for both you and Andrew. I can't imagine it being tougher for you at a time when you were already going to be struggling.

I wish I had some better words to offer you, but you have my love, prayers, and empathy. May God be with you and help you through this. xx

Sorry to be such a downer. Andrew has just driven me absolutely crazy this morning. He was a rascal at the pharmacy and kept running away from me and pulling things off the shelves, etc. At home he is just being defiant and making one mess after another. I know he's not feeling well so I am trying to be patient, but it's hard. Neither of us slept well (coughing). I just want him to feel better and to be happy. On top of it my husband works really late tonight so we won't even get to see him for a short time.

Your love, prayers and empathy are precious to me. Thank you!
