Did I say that fellowship was the primary purpose of church?

You can walk with the Lord all day long, if you wish. That is what Paul taught us to do (1 Thess 5:17).

Of course you can but you can only receive the Body and Blood of Christ in one place

Once a month at our church. I liked once every three months in the church I grew up in. Made it more special, I thought. Some would argue that if you weren't in town that day, six months was a long wait.

The picture above was our communion table (in our living room) was taken over 4 years ago. Since you brought it up, all those who shared this night of communion together are still our close and dear friends. We still meet, share communion as well as eat meals together all the time, and are the best of friends. I believe that is the purpose of Church - relationships.

We have Church with no priest - no pastor - no salaries - in our homes. Christ is always present with us - we are His body, thats the Truth that sets you free. The New Covenant - Christ always present with the believers.

Note that: without any pressure from our group itself, most all our members are involved/operating/working in some sort of ministry - not paid salaries but music / food / teaching / hospice care / medical / etc. I am glad we live and have friendships like Jesus and the disciples had. The most meaningful time we have together is when we share time and meals together. When we have communion time, it is Holy and devotional - we drink in remembrance of Him and His sacrifice, in thanksgiving.

We, as most Liturgical Churches do, take the Holy Eucharist weekly. If we met everyday we would partake of the Holy Eucharist than too. For me that is the best part of Mass when the Priest blesses the elements and the Real Presence of Christ is in the elements

What is the purpose of the church? Does it have multiple purposes?
To be the body of Christ.
When Christ Jesus walked the Earth He was the image of God.
When He went away He sent the Spirit so that we would be His image.
So whatever it is that a body does, that is the purpose of the Church, whether that be speaking truth, hearing the hurts, touching in love....etc etc.

My mother's Episcopal Church had Communion weekly. Communion and short sermon - I liked that.

I have learned that repentance transforms a life. I would expect that to be preached from the pulpit. I don't think it is. It makes me wonder what the value is of a sermon. I think the value of the church lies in other areas - fellowship, Sunday school, mission, etc.

Yes I often think if a non Christian came into the church shouldn't they be told of this?
Would they be any the wiser when they left?
One would hope so

Depends on if there is any truth in the lives of the ones present? OR, as Jesus said to His disciples,
when they (the religious teachers) teach TORAH, LISTEN TO THEM, but DOn'T LIVE AS THEY LIVE (as hypocrites).

So even in a "dead" church, IF TORAH is taught, LISTEN, as JESUS SAYS.

The widow who put her life savings in the collection did not trust the temple nor the religious leaders - they might not even know Jesus -
but she is known around the world everywhere the GOSPEL OF JESUS is PREACHED,
and the religious leaders are long forgotten.

Hopefully.

I'm positive going to church orients one to head in the right direction. Because we experience the happiness of worshiping God. What more can a person ask for? Today, is Monday morning but I am ready to face the day even though my eyes close as I type ;).

My medical insurance company just had me see a nurse to check me out. Part of the process was to send some electric shocks through my ankle. Perhaps that would help wake you up.
