You are not hitting home, btw, did not Paul use that term.
Yeah I am sure he did, something like,
"I do not shadowbox."
Haha, pretty certain it can be found somewhere in his letters.
As for the other, we are talking about a potential killer, comparing it to drunk driving,
where is the connection?
Someone not wearing a mask is a potential killer?
August last year I awoke in intensive care,
was there for two weeks.
Reading here on CF all the chitter chatter about masks caused me to think back to August.
In the whole intesive dept that I was in,
no one, not one wore a mask.
Though visitors were not allowed only under special circmstances.
Ah, the NLT -- New Living Translation:
New International Version
Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
New Living Translation
So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.
English Standard Version
So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.
While I don't use the NLT, because it is less accurate than the NIV or ESV, I think I understand maybe what you mean -- don't waste any time doing anything other than what God says to do. I agree with that.
So, when God actually says do X, then I listen, and try to do X --
Please be sure to listen to Him, in the last verse espeically:
Bible Gateway passage: Luke 10:25-37 - New International Version
What does He say to do?
Yes, the Samaritan physically helped someone in need. Instead of doing nothing for the wounded man, he did things the man most needed
physically.
"Go and do likewise" we hear, said to us.
So, if you can tell someone information that literally saves their life, that is aid that helps
physically, just like as if you gave food to the hungry. Both are good, and needed, at times, depending on the situation. If a man is starving, give him food. If he is in danger and doesn't know it, give him the needed warning about the danger.
