There is direct correlation between people not following guidelines and getting sick. Every one I know who has gotten COVID has also been in situations where they or others weren’t following all guidelines.

Unless you didn't read all my post, it seems you are saying that masks don't block droplets or else that being exposed to a lower initial amount of virus makes no difference, contrary to both long-established understanding and actual observations.

Do you mean my own? -- We had a good friend visit who was very soon after diagnosed with Covid, but none of us in our household got Covid, even though the friend was in our house, but all of us wearing masks.

Whether or not the efficiency of three masks beats two masks, it wouldn't seem to matter much if the person takes off his mask(s) long enough to sneeze or cough or wears the mask(s) with the nose uncovered. I presume that every reader has seen these or similar moves while they have been out shopping, but once those people are inside the store they're home free so far as mask-wearing goes.

This is literally the *worst* mask "wearing" behavior they could do. I've seen a lot of fiddling, masks falling down, taken off to talk (also not great), taken off briefly to wipe the face or take a quick bite or sip, but I (thankfully) don't recall anyone removing it temporarily to cough or sneeze. (Early on before I realized the spreading hazards of ordinary speech and breathing, I assumed that the primary purpose of the mask was to contain the large sprays of droplets ejected in a sneeze or cough.) Even in non-pandemic times it was considered polite and promoting of public health to cover ones coughs and sneezes.
