Some things which are not strictly necessary are still very useful to many. Why not allow those people what is helpful to them in their faith?
Because others think its sin. If folks would rather put an unnecessary stumbling block in front of others thats their business. To me however is shows that the church is lacking in discernment.

As long as you don't worship it in the process. Worship is for God alone.

That's double talk, plain and simple. Already on this very thread I believe someone said they "reverenced" Mary, and who was it that said it was just "Veneration"? Now read the following and not only will you see those two terms, but how many other of the terms in the definition describe exactly what you do with Mary? Are you really going to tell me you don't "adore" her? As a matter of fact, most if not all the terms used to describe worship are what you do towards Mary, and you know it.

Maybe this will finally make some of you see that you just refuse to see, but I knew it wouldn't happen, people are stubborn, and never will see some things, even if everything is at stake. *sigh

OF COURSE WE DON'T! You're thinking in English, and the Church is Latin and Greek. Try to look at the Greek words latria, dulia, hyperdulia. Because I know you won't look it up:
As the terminology of Christian theology developed, the Greek term latria came to be used to refer to the honor that is due to God alone, and the term dulia came to refer to the honor that is due to human beings, especially those who lived and died in God’s friendship—in other words, the saints. Scripture indicates that honor is due to these individuals (Matt. 10:41b). A special term was coined to refer to the special honor given to the Virgin Mary, who bore Jesus—God in the flesh—in her womb. This term, hyperdulia (huper [more than]+ dulia = "beyond dulia"), indicates that the honor due to her as Christ’s own Mother is more than the dulia given to other saints. It is greater in degree, but still of the same kind. However, since Mary is a finite creature, the honor she is due is fundamentally different in kind from the latria owed to the infinite Creator.

OF COURSE WE DON'T! You're thinking in English,

Imagine that, and of course you do.

A special term was coined to refer to the special honor given to the Virgin Mary, who bore Jesus—God in the flesh—in her womb.

Yet Catholics still do all that the dictionary describes as worship. This language thing you are trying to throw in there makes no difference at all in what you do, and no "special term" will change that..

This thread is not for debate. It already had one clean. The advisors have read the suggestion and are talking about it.

Closing this thread. There are about 20 other threads at the moment in the proper places to debate Mary.
