I do think thank you very much, but the coldness in that quote speaks volumes. Ugh.

well why do you believe the Bible and not the Koran and not the Gnostic Gospels?
or the Hindu Vedas? they all say they are from God or by a prophet of God. What makes you so sure those Bishops back in the day picked the right books for the Bible? I know why I do, I trust the Apostolic nature of the Church, I trust that God is guiding the Church, I think He still is, if I did not believe this then why would I trust all of the scripture?

So if not all christian truth is in the scripture, why do you guys give us such a hard time when we say Mary was assumed into heaven?
give the man a break, that is from a letter to refute heresy, he was a roman citizen and was trained in debate and rhetoric, if you wanna see life and passion read "Confessions" by Augustine, same guy, differant tone. That statement has NO LIFE IN IT AT ALL. It's disgusting
By what authority do you accept the gospel?
It was given to you by the Catholic Church, right?
so you do support Bible alone,1. The Bible does not support any special spiritual status for Mary.
2. The Bible teaches that man's lot is to "die once, then the judgment."
3. The Bible does not teach or support that Mary would have any special role in heaven.
4. "There is one Mediator between God and man, the Man Jesus Christ."

the Orthodox and many Catholics believe that Mary died before she was assumed into heaven.
I think that the problem is the only reason you can say you believe in the Bible is that is speaks to your soul, the same reason others believe in the Koran or gnostic books. It is circle logic, I believe the Bible is right becuase the Bible says it is right.I don't care if it was in a letter about heresy, it's still distasteful.

Catholics aren't much better, but at least with us it is more of a spiral. If you start with looking at the 4 Gospels as history you hear the story of Jesus who is God and man (it is true this takes a leap of faith) and that He started a visible Church on earth. Then I recognize the Catholic Church as the Church He started, then the Catholic Church tell me that the Gospels, and all of scripture are not just historical books, but the infallible word of God. So even if I did not like.... oh I dunno, the Epistle of James, even if I did not like it I would have to say it is the word of God and free from all error. Because I trust the Church, if I relied on my own heart it might lead me to not believe it because I might not care for it
To me it just seems like you believe in an "eternal corporation" selling a book. (but again, this is just MHO)ElsanRandiMom

That's not at all why. In fact, that's downright silly in itself.

why?I don't have a problem with determining Canon and what not the problems started with Purgatory, Infalliable Pope, Marian Dogma etc
lol, that made me crack up laughing, I never thought of it that way before, but read my last post, I am not just picking a fight, I really do not understand how Protestants can not trust the Catholic Church (or at least the Eastern or Oriental Orthodox Church) and have total faith that the Cannon of the Bible is correct? To me it just seems like you believe in an "eternal corporation" selling a book.
