Ariel
Servant
Thank you, Steven!
I often move in the prophetic, but there is not any one way it happens. Most of all, the Lord gives me words as I pray for others. For example, He reminds me of a Scripture and tells me to pray and believe for them. Or, He can give me a vision, or even a dream. I have a three-ring binder I use for prayer, and I write these words and visions down, and often use them to remind myself of what God said and pray accordingly. It doesn't matter how big the vision is, if God has given me a vision, with the vision comes faith to believe for what He showed me. These words are gold!
I measure every prophetic word I get against the Word of God. It must be consistent. I will not receive or give a prophetic word that is not consistent with the Word of God.
If I give an individual prophecy, it's most likely because I've been praying for an individual, and the Lord has given me either a Scripture for them or a vision. Often, when I give an individual an encouraging word, I don't usually tell them I heard the Lord say that about them. Perhaps I should.
And of course, there are some words that I will not share because the Lord has given them to me for intercession, not public consumption. How can I share some of them, anyway? When I saw the 9/11 attack years before it happened, who could I have gone to? There was no one, so I just prayed for that attack to be mitigated. There are prophetic words I have today that I also cannot share.
Concerning spiritual gifts, this I what I've found: Love the Lord. Just love the Lord. Be willing to follow Him because you love Him. That, more than anything else is the source of all ministry, whether prophecy or serving or administering or preaching.
Do you not realize? Throughout this post I have given words of encouragement and exhortation for someone here.
Take what you want. Not all prophetic words begin with "Thus sayeth the Lord."
