Oh, I just love it when daughters of God sing!!!

The Lord says

Oh my daughters sing ,sing, sing, for as you praise and worship me, just like I broke the chains when Paul and Silas praised me in Jail ,so I will break the chains of any worry, despair, lonliness, fear, or any other thing the enemy might be troubling you with, praising is faith, and I bless faith, and I will bless you with my anointing and my love for others and all of you shall shine like the noonday sun, Saith the Lord

So according to you, the Apostle John was acting unappropriately, above the authority and right that God had given him when he proclaimed the prophecy that is written in Revelation?

Revelation is pretty much the most prominent example of NT prophecy in the Bible, and 'thus sayeth the Lord' is used numerous times in that book.

Some more examples where christians claim to speak directly from Him:

Acts 27
23Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me 24and said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand....

Acts 21:11
Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.' "

Acts 10
"You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean. 29So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?"


Although I realize, Oscarr, that this is your view of NT prophecy, I don't understand why you seem to ignore the fact that 'thus sayeth the Lord' is used in the New Testament.

These people are definitely saying that the word they have comes from the Lord, but the tone of what they are saying does not suggest that they are being the direct mouthpiece of God as if God Himself is speaking directly through them. If I say to a person "If Jesus was here, He would say this to you..." I would still use the third person so that I am not giving any impression that my words are directly God's words.

Paul himself said in 1Cor14 that some of the things he was writing were the commands of the Lord.

I don't really know what it is, but I see a difference in quoting what God might say to a person, and actually making myself the actual mouthpiece of God. It is not easy to explain.

It is just that I have a resistance to a person giving a "thus saith the Lord" prophecy in the first person that would make it difficult for me to reject if I didn't feel it was appropriate for me, without the feeling that I am disobeying God if I don't accept the word. I don't think that Christians should ever be placed in that position.

I think it is equally dangerous to say "thus says the Lord" as it is to not say it if that is how the Holy Spirit gives the word. There are differing forms of the gift of prophesey as there are differing ways God manifests Himself in healing.

Of course he will answer your prayer just not necisarily the way you want but trust his plans are better than yours.
