Maybe you are unaware of the impact on gays and lesbians lives when people attempt to blame them for disease or societies' ills...it's sort of like blaming African Americans for the, alleged, downfall of our society.

You honestly think it's okay to claim gays and lesbians spread diseases and cause society to function badly?

I am aware, and I also know that in the USA, according to the CDC and JAMA the greatest cause for speading HIV/AIDS is listed as homosexuality. (I haven't check out to see if any new studies are posted, so will add, the last time I checked to these statements.)

To me then posting those findings would be nothing more then posting the truth, according to scientist/medical finding as long as it is made clear that those findings are for a certain area, etc. Now if those facts are left out then yes it is wrong to alter the findings for some agenda/cause.

No one would want what a Christian has found in Christ if it leads to lying/false statements, etc.

I also know that the acceptance and tolerance of sin in any society will cause the downfall of that society. I believe history has even shown that to be true, so if someone believes that homosexuality is a sin, then why wouldn't they state that sin causes a downfall of mankind? God destroyed cities and almost everyone because of what willful sinning was doing to to mankind, so why wouldn't a Christian warn of that?

It's not accurate to say that the "greatest cause for spreading HIV/AIDS is listed as homosexuality." That's a distortion. "Homosexuality" does not cause AIDS or HIV to spread. Certain sexual practices, done without protection, can cause HIV/AIDS to spread. I am a lesbian, and while I do not have sex, as I am single, I know that lesbians are one of the lowest risk groups for HIV/AIDS. We are just as "homosexual" as gay men are.

Please be careful not to spread misinformation, especially misinformation that ends up maligning an innocent group of people, in this case gay people.

You also assume that gay people "sin" when we express intimate love with our spouses. Most gay people, and a majority of heterosexuals nowadays also, according to Gallup polls, do not agree with that belief of yours.

The greatest cause from the transmission of HIV is through unprotected anal sex then unprotected/high-risk heterosexual sex.

Exposure category Total
Male-to-male sexual contact 16,001
Injection drug use 6,795
Male-to-male sexual contact and injection drug use 1,803
High-risk heterosexual contact 11,754 Other/risk not identified 437

We've gone over this several times in other forums.
The amount of total exposure in 2006 is only 25% more than for gay sex than for straight sex. As you can see, more people get HIV (in 2006) from heterosexual sex than from Injection drug use.

I primary mode of transmission for HIV is through high-risk/unprotected sex. Unfortunately, gay men are 25% more likely to participate in this irresponsible behavior.

No one would want what a Christian has found in Christ if it leads to lying/false statements, etc.

I also know that the acceptance and tolerance of sin in any society will cause the downfall of that society. It is very clear in the Bible that non-belief(atheism) or the worship of other gods is a horrible sin. Both the ten commandments and Jesus' insistence on letting God into your hearth show that this is at the top of the list of concerns/sins. Yet American society holds religious freedom to be of tremendous importance. If these people think sin, or the acceptance and tolerance of, will cause the downfall of society, one would think they would start with this, rather than the love and sex lives of 4-10% of the population.

Furthermore, the cities, states, provinces and countries that have embraced homosexuality as a normal human condition, thus normalizing and accepting it, are not on the verge of ruin, destruction or collapse. The evidence is lacking that accepting 4-10% of the population as normal and acceptable despite being different is going to cause civilized society to fall.

Statements like this upset me because they are both offensive (emotional) and misleading (intellectual).

Saying that a group of people is the cause of spreading a disease sounds horrible.... the fact that it isn't true adds insult to injury.

This is like saying that the leading cause of teen pregnancy is girls in short-shorts and make-up. Yes, perhaps girls that wear these are more likely to get pregnant(i don't know, it's just a analogy), but that isn't what causes teen pregnancy.

Correlation does not equal causation

Boy, talk about fuzzy math. Your conclusion from the above stats make the woefully incorrect assumption that there are as many homosexual men as heterosexual men. There were indeed 25% more AIDS cases for gay men in 2006 - but gay men only make up 1-3% of the population! So only 1-3% of the population have 25% more of the AIDS cases than the other 97-99% combined!

I just call sin what it is, nothing more. I have whined about members who call people 'haters' hypocritically though.

I don't think it's 'hypocritical" to call a spade a spade.

When people with such a limited and false understanding of sexuality constantly harp on these issues, it is clearly an act of prejudice, hatred, and heterosexism.

Trying to save people from hell is "hate." We don't want anyone to go to a terrible place called hell, and that is "hate." Ironical isn't it?

Does anyone on the gay side of the debate even acknowledge that hell is an issue?

So when the fireman comes to rescue people they think he "hates them." Beats anything I've ever heard.

You know savedandhappy, it's further evidence of a seared conscience that is no longer capable of moral perception. All that's left is scar tissue in the morality part of the brain. That part of the brain no longer functions. It's just about hopeless really.

In the link, you can read where pagans offered their firstborn as an infant sacrifice with a clear conscience.

If one worships a "god" who would sentence people to hell for loving, that should be the desired destination of all persons of integrity. To promote such an evil "god" serves no one except the actor's will to power. A heaven as they envision would be an above of sychopants and cowards---the most evil of humanity and their evil god.

The certain Pagans who practiced human sacrifice are paragons of virtue compared to these miscreants, who do the same on a mass scale. Their god's evil makes Hitler's and Pol Pot's pale in comparison and it is for 'eternity" or so they would have us believe.

How can you be set free by the truth if you do not know it??

There is certainly no "truth" to the hatred against LGBTs being promoted.

The TRUTH is no God worthy of being called such would acquiesce with the evils inflicted upon his LGBT children by agents of hatred.

... according to the CDC and JAMA the greatest cause for speading HIV/AIDS is listed as homosexuality.

That's equivalent to saying salmonella is caused by eating.

And, moreover, even were such an absurd thing true, not all homosexuals are male, and lesbians have a much lower rate of HIV/AIDS than everyone else, which by your logic proves they are God's Chosen People (TM).

Actually, it's worse than that because that 25% included women. Actually, the numbers for straight men and women are 4500 and 7200 respectively. Which is sad... it means that it the heterosexual community, women are getting it from men at a higher rate. Should we conclude that men are the cause of HIV transmission in heterosexual sex?

This is true if you want to do it on percentage of the population. Yes, the incidence of HIV transmission in the gay male community is bad. They are very likely to engage in unsafe sex.

(also notice that the exposure category is Male to male sexual contact, not gay. Many of these people who get HIV from this do not identify as gay)

Also... perhaps we should talk about what Ohioprof mentioned about how the lowest exposure group is lesbians....

Is homosexual/male to male sexual contact the highest amount of spreading HIV/AIDS?

The answer is yes, and so why is it ok for you to post stats that show this, and not ok for those who believe that homosexuailty is a sin?

I primary mode of transmission for HIV is through high-risk/unprotected sex. Unfortunately, gay men are 25% more likely to participate in this irresponsible behavior.

So posting replies on a site to debate homosexuality means that we don't also believe or speak up against other things that are sins?

The downfall of this society is simple we have fallen away from God and went our own ways. That can include many different things/sins, and not speaking of them on a site for debating homosexuality isn't confussing to me. The reason this subforum was started because it took up to much space when it was in the A & P section, and so it was moved so that those that didn't want to discuss homosexuality could just cover the subjects they wanted. If someone wants to discuss other subjects then it would be logical to go to those other threads wouldn't it?

Furthermore, the cities, states, provinces and countries that have embraced homosexuality as a normal human condition, thus normalizing and accepting it, are not on the verge of ruin, destruction or collapse. We have to live in this world but the Bible says we aren't to be part of it, so why should someone follow what the cities, states, etc. embrace if it isn't embraced by the Lord?

Cities and the whole of the earth were destroyed because of their worldly ways, and that will happen again, as we are told in the Bible.

Oh, I didn't realize that your point was that if the CDC, JAMA and or medial scientist find that in the USA male homosexuals have the highest rate for spreading HIV/AIDS then it must be true.

So your point is that if it is true but against what you want to hear it is bigotry and hateful?

There is no lies in the statement, and it doesn't mean anymore then what it states, so I think a point was proven, but don't think it is the one you think.

African-AMericans males have a higher rate of strokes and heart disease than whites males...should I pick on African Americans the way you and other professed Christians pick on homosexuals?

It's almost as if you and others here enjoy denigrating homosexuals and spreading the idea that AIDS is a "gay plague". Shame...

The blaming of homosexuals for a disease is a slur, and, as used here, proves the point of the original post. In short, its mention is an unethical attack on a group of oppressed people.

The rest of this is not applicable to the topic; it simply amounts to attempts to justify bad behavior.

But that is not what you said. In your previous post, you wrote this:

"I am aware, and I also know that in the USA, according to the CDC and JAMA the greatest cause for speading HIV/AIDS is listed as homosexuality."

That's not the same as saying that the highest rate of HIV in the United States occurs in gay men. You said that "homosexuality" causes the spread of HIV/AIDS, which is not true. You may have simply used imprecise writing, but the statement you made is false.
