Personally I was against same gender marriage and felt no need for pushing it....rather typical I must say of my middle class upbringing. It was grassroots folks who pushed LGBT civil rights groups to press for it, which they finally did, reluctantly at first. I came to see the wisdom of their position as it affirms LGBT unions are every bit as holy as heterosexual marriages, which, they certainly are.

That is evidence of the compromise that occurs in those with shallow spiritual roots. There is nothing holy in circumventing the laws of God. It is completely anti-God to consider something vile and degrading as something holy.

The "marriage bit" is supported by my church. My church honors and performs same-sex marriages. And this "absurd" institution you call the "marriage bit" between same-sex spouses is now legally recognized in a growing number of nations, including yours.

Same-sex marriage is crammed down right-thinking people's throats, but that is because we live in a secular society which denies Jesus Christ. That is par for the course.

But believers around the globe are united in the fact that God is not in this type of mindset or legislation. It is the antichrist spirit---yes, even in churches, and especially in Universalist churches, and the UU churches. so, you cannot rise up in pride proclaiming your church embraces this immorality, because it is against God in the first place in its beliefs.

Good to see you. It has been awhile, because there has been so much going on since my mother went home to be with the Lord.

I ask you and all my brothers and sisters to pray for a dear family who lost their wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and a dear friend to me today. She didn't know she had a brain aneurysm and it blew last Thursday while her and her husband were out eating supper. The damage was so bad............anyhow she past today at 3 PM. Please ask for comfort from the Lord for her family and friends. It was so sudden, and I will miss her alot, so you can imagine how her family feels.

Thanks for remembering the post I was speaking of and standing as a witness to the fact that I wasn't trying to do any of the things that I have been accused of.

So my "perverse acts" are belonging to a church whose members disagree with you?

My church, btw, does not cram anything down anyone's throats. People in my church are free to embrace whatever theological doctrines they wish. We are about as far from cramming anything as a church can get! I do not think we have "the antichrist spirit." We are not against Jesus, and many UUs are Christians. Many UUs hold different beliefs than you do, but that's not having the "antichrist spirit."

The Bible does say homosexual offenders a Biblical translation is a Bible! All reliable Bible translations say homosexuals, homosexual offenders, men abusers of men, sodomites, etc.
Do you speak Greek? Are you an expert in ancient Greek? If not how can you judge a translation wrong?

A colleague in the office near mine is a classicist and a professor of Greek and Latin. He teaches ancient history also. He says that "homosexual offenders" is, in his judgment, a mistranslation.

This sounds like you are advocating (government sanctioned) unfair treatment for anyone who you believe has sinned.
What about all the people that believe YOU have sinned? Christians aren't the only people in the word. Would you be comfortable with unfair treatment because the Jewish faith things you've sinned? If Muslims believe that you have sinned and should be killed (i know, i'm being dramatic), how would you feel about this?

this is the problem when you start trying to make the state enforce religious doctrine. the question quickly becomes WHOSE religious doctrine?
How does a previously secular government choose to enforce one religion over another?

see... the founding fathers already thought this one through and decided that government should stay out of it. Instead they would protect the individuals' rights to live their OWN life as they see fit and moral as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else's right to live their life as they see fit.

I had misinterpreted what you said as you saying that people should not be standing up for the equal rights of homosexuals, which is not what you said. You were saying that some of the people who do stand up for equal rights can be very picky about word choice. I skimmed to quickly and jumped to the defensive.
