Has anyone considered the possibility that the years Adam was recorded to have lived could have started after the fall of man when he became mortal and his days became numbered? Adam and Eve could have lived for thousands or even millions of years as immortal beings in the garden of Eden before the fall

I believe this thread has less to do with the actual age of the earth and more to do with the faith one has to have to believe what ever it is he believes about the age of this earth.

Your answer does account for alot because we are not told how long Adam was in the garden from the point he was introduced to the exile.

Reading this quote brings this thought to mind:

If science is the antithesis to ignorance, then why not simply "science away" the ignorance you are so ready to point out? Why waste the effort in trying to arbitrarily dismiss my efforts rather than use the sledge hammer of self righteousness you yourself and others have been given through your faith in science?? Oh wait you have, several times over and now you are appealing to philosophy to do what you have been unsuccessful at doing by using your faith in facts, to squash my argument that simply points to your faith in facts.

You and others have assumed from the beginning that I do not have a faith in facts, when in fact it do. How else do you think I can point out the same faith in facts that I see in others? My arguments have never been against science. My argument is to simply point out the faith that is intrinsic in science. In other words i am simply pointing out that Belief in a scientific explanation is not akin to a belief in absolute truth. Science is a Faith like any other, except the faithful believers of science are too proud/ignorant to admit/see the faith that they exercise in their beliefs.

Whether you can admit it or not, it takes the same measure of faith to believe in "Popular science" as it does to believe in God. It is to this truth of your "Faith" that will be measured, and then used to condemn you.

If you are so willing to take the word of your fellow man on Faith, then why are you not willing to take the word of God on Faith?

If you found out tomorrow that Christianity were wrong, would you be willing to reject it?

According to your beliefs Christianity is wrong right now, so I guess it would greatly depend on who and how this revelation came about. For instance if Christ Himself told me Christianity was wrong, then yes I would reject it.

I currently "reject" certain forms of christianity right now because they do not follow the teachings of Christ.

What about you? If God revealed himself to you would you be willing to incorporate your faith in science with a faith in God?

Absolutely. I try to accept that which is reasonable.

Yes I would. However, I would be led to ask the question: is this being that revealed himself to me and said he was GOD, the real GOD? Or is he just some extremely advanced form of intelligence? Maybe it is lucifer trying to deceive me?

Then ask God to prepare you so that you may receive his revelation. ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be open unto you.

We ask through prayer, we seek in the bible and in places like this one, we knock by repeating this process until our heart gets what it truly seek.

There is a parable I can post that explains this principle way better than i do, if you want to read it.

these are really good points, because Many have been deceived by erroneous revelations. Some very popular religious movements in and outside of Christianity have been spawned by Lucifer deceiving a heart a little too willing to receive a supernatural revelation.

Thankfully we serve a God who has the foresight to help those who wish to know Him through Spirit inspired discernment, rather than just knowing the pomp and flash of a spiritual sign or a worldly wonder. We can find this discernment in the Holy Spirit inspired words that have been recorded in the New testament.

In other words we can know if a revelation is from God because it will coincide with scripture. There are no new revelations. God will not tell you or reveal something to you that goes against a doctrine that has already been established in the bible.

It has been my experience that God simply speaks/addresses the situations that directly effect your life from a biblical perspective.

Folks, as a reminder
Exploring Christianity FSG's - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!!

Exploring Christianity Forum
This is a forum where non-Christians are encouraged to ask questions about those aspects of the Christian faith which seem hard to understand or accept, and where Christians can enter into discussion with them on these questions.

We recognize that real seekers are looking for real answers, and the first reply given may be insufficient to achieve this. It is acceptable for the Original Poster (OP) to probe the answers given, and to continue the discussion on lines which help to clarify their understanding of the Christian faith.
If another non-Christian seeker wishes to ask questions about the Christian faith, they may start their own thread. No more than one non-Christian (the OP) may post in a thread.

and

Debate
This forum is for discussion of questions with non-Christians. There are some areas of theology in which different Christians may believe differently.
In these cases, we would ask Christians to refrain from debating the matter here. You may point out that there is a differing viewpoint, but please do not use this forum to debate with other Christians. If Christians wish to discuss various doctrines with other Christians, they should do so in the
Theology forums.
